| 01:37 | __anton__ | hi, still thinking of the best way to connect interface board with beta board if they boards a several (up to 10) cm apart. Was looking at angle board-to board connectors. Found these https://www.hirose.co.jp/cataloge_hp/e57900025.pdf what is interesting about them is that they recommend leaving 1/3 of the pins as ground pins to provide better "isolation" between ground pins. Is that because they want to have 10Gbps?
| 01:37 | __anton__ | Not required for 300Mhz?
| 01:37 | __anton__ | better "isolation" between signal pins
| 01:38 | __anton__ | also these look much bigger than microheaders, min distance between boards if you stack them is 15mm, perhaps this more "substantial" design is also due to 10Gbps requirement

| 18:01 | aombk | i have no experience with bmcc but a lot of footage from it seem very similar colorwise. does bmcc lead to orange/blue footage in general?
| 18:11 | Bertl_oO | very similar to what?
| 18:24 | aombk | to each other
| 18:33 | se6astian | hi comradekingu
| 18:41 | Bertl_oO | aombk: ah, so the 'so called' bmcc 'style'
| 18:41 | Bertl_oO | (or look :)
| 18:42 | aombk | but is there a specific style that this camera leads you somehow to or do all bmcc users have the same "taste"?
| 18:45 | Bertl_oO | I guess it is the predefined color processing which cannot be easily changed if at all
| 18:51 | aombk | this wont be the case in beta i understand, right?
| 18:52 | Bertl_oO | correct
| 18:52 | Bertl_oO | but we still have the 'color profile' of the sensor
| 18:53 | Bertl_oO | which is kind of unique to each sensor type
| 18:57 | aombk | i saw a movie yesterday that had a fucked up image and even though i am a pixel peeper, i enjoyed the image and realized how much the uniformity in fidelity and sharpness and post production/color grading in cinema has exhausted me
| 18:57 | aombk | this may change with your open source camera
| 19:00 | Bertl_oO | hopefully
| 19:00 | aombk | bertl, what makes the sensors "color profile"? the wavelength range of the bayer color films in front of the pixels?
| 19:02 | alexML_ | "this may change with your open source camera" -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66GGaWt_sYk :P
| 19:04 | intracube | aombk: have you got any good examples showing this bmcc style?
| 19:05 | aombk | alexML_, thes great! :P
| 19:06 | aombk | intracube, http://vimeo.com/110024810 i have seen this picture style too many times
| 19:07 | aombk | its not that i dont like it
| 19:09 | aombk | *liked it
| 19:09 | intracube | isn't there a rumour/suggestion that the bmcc uses a cmosis sensor?
| 19:09 | aombk | no i dont think so
| 19:12 | aombk | its just speculation
| 19:13 | lab-bot | sebastian closed T89: review new open source page on apertus.org as "Resolved". http://lab.apertus.org/T89
| 19:13 | intracube | one thing I noticed with the axiom alpha footage, when you do a basic correction with RGB curves to try and get greys to look neutral (no apparent colour cast)
| 19:14 | intracube | the saturation level of each primary looked different
| 19:14 | intracube | the greens looked very faded, but reds/blues looked closer to how I'd imagine they were in the original scene
| 19:15 | intracube | I've got nothing to back this up. just a hunch/instinct
| 19:15 | intracube | if you increase overall saturation so the trees look good, reds/blues look way to saturated
| 19:16 | intracube | as Bertl_oO said, maybe bmcc aren't fully correcting for the inherent look of the sensor
| 19:16 | aombk | didnt notice that
| 19:17 | intracube | but that vimeo example you posted is heavily graded
| 19:18 | intracube | in parts it almost looks like they were going for an old fashioned two-colour film effect
| 19:19 | intracube | like in The Aviator
| 19:20 | intracube | tho not as extreme

| 21:39 | troy_s | OK. One more time...
| 21:40 | troy_s | Teal orange is not a terror. It is not some grand conspiracy. The most basic colors due to daylight / tungesten axis are blue and orange, and that is precisely what are most common when shooting with a form of achromatic light.
| 21:41 | troy_s | That is, if you shoot at a common 5000k white balance, any daylight or tungsten leaning fixtures or skies or etc. will lean to blue or orange, and as a base, a colorist is likely to not try and fight it out.
| 21:46 | Bertl | no conspiracy?
| 21:49 | troy_s | Nope sadly.
| 21:49 | troy_s | It is mind-numbing that anyone cannot see how it is much beyond a trend. Unless of course, someone wants to amp up the emotional response of a sunset by say, correcting it to green.
| 21:50 | troy_s | Or a beautiful vista to perhaps magenta.
| 21:52 | troy_s | I would also add that a crap color matrix for the camera would skew the values quite badly.
