| 12:11 | Bertl | morning everyone!
| 12:29 | se6astian | hello!
| 12:31 | se6astian | about the prototype enclosure
| 12:32 | se6astian | I was thinking of a general aluminum project box that can hold the dimensions of a zedboard
| 12:32 | se6astian | like this: http://www.conrad.at/ce/de/product/534483/Universal-Gehaeuse-Aluminium-Schwarz-275-x-175-x-65-Hammond-Electronics-1550JBK-1-St/0203042
| 12:33 | se6astian | and then we mill out the area from the top cover that we need to attach he lens mount part
| 12:33 | se6astian | and the Zedboard we attach with glued spacers from the inside
| 12:34 | se6astian | what do you think?
| 12:40 | jucar1 | left the channel |
| 12:40 | jucar1 | joined the channel |
| 12:46 | se6astian | ok afk fo a bit
| 13:30 | se6astian | back
| 13:43 | Bertl | hmm, doesn't really look appealing to me
| 13:44 | Bertl | besides, do we get that in a size which fits the zedboard but doesn't look like a shoebox?
| 13:45 | Bertl | I'd more go for a clear acrylic case with cutouts and ventilation holes (lasercutter)
| 13:46 | Bertl | where you can see the parts inside
| 13:56 | se6astian | the picture is wrong
| 13:56 | se6astian | its actually black
| 13:56 | se6astian | so it should look a bit more classy ;)
| 13:56 | se6astian | transparent is also fine
| 13:57 | se6astian | and plastic is easier to cut/mill/laster as well
| 13:57 | se6astian | it should just be strong enough to carry not only the lens mount but a 1kg lens as well
| 14:03 | Bertl | well, probably needs some extra stabilization on the lensmount then
| 14:03 | Bertl | i.e. something which tightly holds the lens mount
| 14:03 | Bertl | s/holds/grabs/
| 14:11 | se6astian | yes
| 14:11 | jucar1 | left the channel |
| 14:12 | jucar1 | joined the channel |

| 14:43 | jucar1 | left the channel |
| 14:44 | jucar1 | joined the channel |
| 14:45 | se6astian | what about just a steel L bracket (http://www.tuin.co.uk/images/D/garden-l-bracket.jpg) that connects lens mount and bottom tripod mount of the box?
| 14:48 | Bertl | sounds good, but how would that attach to the lens mount?
| 14:50 | Bertl | we can screw the zedboard to the base of whatever case we use, with 4 spacers and screws. the adapter is only connected via two spacers and screws and the FMC connector
| 14:50 | Bertl | so there we have to be careful not to bend or twist anything
| 14:51 | Bertl | the lens mount is connected via 4 tiny screws to the adapter, which imho is the really critical part
| 14:54 | Bertl | maybe we could design some kind of lens mount holder which matches the round front and prevents any tilt from the lens weight
| 14:59 | se6astian | the l bracket could attach to the lens mount with the 4 screws around the opening on the lensmount back
| 14:59 | se6astian | we would need to cut a matching hole into the l bracket for the image sensor though
| 15:00 | Bertl | that won't work
| 15:00 | Bertl | there are components around the sensor, and the space is very tight
| 15:01 | Bertl | i.e. I doubt you can fit any bracket there without damage
| 15:01 | se6astian | hmm maybe from the other side, eg holding the lens mount from "outside" ?
| 15:01 | se6astian | along the tube?
| 15:02 | se6astian | ok, gotta leave my university office
| 15:02 | se6astian | bye!

| 17:32 | Bertl | so I guess it is still a problem with his IRC client
| 17:34 | NeillA | Hi
| 17:36 | Bertl | hey NeillA! wecome to the channel!
| 17:38 | NeillA | Can't stay for long, i was just trying to get IRC set up on my tablet.
| 17:38 | Bertl | seems to work!
| 17:38 | NeillA | Yep, good start then
| 17:40 | se6astian | hello, welcome!
| 17:41 | NeillA | Hello
| 17:41 | se6astian | good to have you here, IRC felt a bit oldschool for me at first after not using it for almost 10 years :)
| 17:41 | se6astian | but I got quite used to it again, works nicely now :)
| 17:41 | NeillA | Yeah, can't remember when i last used it.
| 17:43 | Bertl | two hours ago :)
| 17:44 | NeillA | Yeah, memory like a goldfish :-)
| 17:46 | se6astian | ;)
| 17:46 | se6astian | So Neill, you got my mail about ou FPGA efforts to build an emulated sensor
| 17:46 | se6astian | do you think you could help with that?
| 17:48 | NeillA | Yeah, have you got a model of the sensor from cmosis?
| 17:49 | jucar2 | joined the channel |
| 17:50 | se6astian | yes, we have one, but it would not really be required for the emulation
| 17:50 | Bertl | hmm, I sense a misunderstanding
| 17:50 | Bertl | NeillA: yes, we got the VHDL code from Cmosis
| 17:50 | Bertl | (which contains a simulation model)
| 17:51 | NeillA | Ok, thats good
| 17:51 | Bertl | se6astian can send it to you, I guess?
| 17:52 | NeillA | That might be good
| 17:52 | jucar1 | left the channel |
| 17:53 | se6astian | yes will do it right away
| 17:53 | NeillA | Is it the generic model they have for the cmv4000?
| 17:53 | Bertl | maybe, I'd say likely, but not in the codebase we got for the CMV12k
| 17:54 | se6astian | sent
| 17:54 | NeillA | Ok, well i'll have a look.
| 17:55 | se6astian | the full datasheet is also on our github account: https://github.com/apertus-open-source-cinema/alpha-hardware/blob/master/Datasheets/datasheet_CMV12000%20v8.pdf
| 17:56 | NeillA | Ok thanks
| 17:57 | Bertl | and if you find the time, please review the adapter board ... feedback is much appreciated

| 18:01 | NeillA | So do you know what the current status of the emulated sensor is?
| 18:02 | Bertl | I think dmj_nova got his zedboard up and running (with TFTP boot) and was working on 300MHz clock last time he was around
| 18:02 | Bertl | so I wouldn't expect too much progress (yet)
| 18:03 | NeillA | Ok its a start anyway
| 18:03 | Bertl | definitely!
| 18:04 | NeillA | I'll have to dig out my zedboard
| 18:07 | NeillA | I've got to go now, chat again later
