09:09
metal_dent[m]
supragyaraj: hey!
09:09
supragyaraj
hi, i was going through your draft
09:10
supragyaraj
has BAndiT1983 reviewed it already?
09:10
metal_dent[m]
not yet, he is busy
09:12
supragyaraj
IIRC last time I had asked if the synopsis could be there (just a paragraph even) before timeline...
09:14
supragyaraj
also idk how much detail would BAndiT1983 like wrt timelines and tasks described in the doc... but I would have liked things a little more verbose there.
09:15
supragyaraj
also, since BAndiT1983 is the one who's gonna be there as primary mentor for bootloader, make sure he has a final look at the draft
09:15
metal_dent[m]
yes, i wanted to ask about that like do i need to write in deatil all the steps or just little phrases are okay
09:16
metal_dent[m]
*detail
09:17
supragyaraj
write enough to get the point across assuming the reader does not know a whole lot about the project.... however, writing a novel is not what's needed as well XD
09:17
metal_dent[m]
okay then will add some details :)
09:17
supragyaraj
that's why check with BAndiT1983 on if he needs more details
09:17
supragyaraj
also spell check please
09:18

metal_dent[m]: you should mark your CV somehow, as it was not obvious that it's a link, maybe not as title, but place it in paragraph text and make a visible link
09:26
metal_dent[m]
yes, i thought that might be a problem, will add the link under the title
09:26
metal_dent[m]
(also for the qualification task)
09:26
BAndiT1983
yes, please make all the links visible, so it's obvious where they point to
09:27
BAndiT1983
or at least place [external link] or something like that behind a word which leads to it, if you want to contain nice text without placing long link
09:28
metal_dent[m]
yes yes, got it!
09:30
BAndiT1983
"bootloader is not much tested" is one side of the medal, but we haven't got far with development yet, some things were implemented for testing, then linked in the firmware to be able to push it forward, so bootloader was dormant a bit, besides LVP testing

BAndiT1983
next sentence is not fully correct, as it's not some MCU programming, it'S opposite: a lot of MCU programming, as you have to dive into the guts of the pic32 and be able to separate memory in proper areas, like framebuffer (already there), additional fixed areas like queues for BL and app communication, bootloader area, application area
09:34
BAndiT1983
voltages don't need to be manipulated either, as they are quite fixed, only thing at the moment i can think of is PWM, but it's also there and the electronics side is covered by a transistor on the display side, Bertl can correct me here, as i know the board, but maybe not all small details
09:35
BAndiT1983
luckily google has extended the timeline, hope that you can accomplish your exams without much trouble
09:35
metal_dent[m]
yes, Bertl explained me in detail about the LVP

> luckily google has extended the timeline, hope that you can accomplish your exams without much trouble

Hi supragyaraj and Bertl !!
14:23
BAndiT1983
hi
14:24
ashok_singh[m]
Hi BAndiT1983: This is about subtask, where we have to send commands to the camera to control it.
14:24
ashok_singh[m]
as at present there is no implementation of communication between arm and pic(which is expected to be usb), What are plans for that ? Is this protocol expected to be setup and running before gsoc timeline ?
14:25
BAndiT1983
ARM and PIC? what do you mean?
14:25
ashok_singh[m]
is implementation of this protocol is also under the subtask only?
14:26
ashok_singh[m]
> ARM and PIC? what do you mean?
14:26
ashok_singh[m]
I meant Axiom camera and remote.
14:28
BAndiT1983
protocol subtask is one of the most important, also the USB device has to be implemented properly, probably HID one
14:39
ashok_singh[m]
so the physical layer needs to be implemented too and we will be working on beta here too as the commands send by remote needs to be handeled by host(beta).
14:40
BAndiT1983
beta side is handled by different module as is not part of gsoc task

<RexOrCine " ashok_singh: Hi. What did you h"> Hi RexOrCine
18:20
ashok_singh[m]
The present tentative plan in my mind for vectorscope drawing is: to draw the basic template same every time and calculating luminance and chrominance value (U and V) and writing them in frambuffer manually at respective location.
18:22
RexOrCine
OK. Thanks.
18:24
BAndiT1983
ashok_singh[m]: who should calculate it?
18:26
ashok_singh[m]
It will be calculated by us in code itself from the raw image data.
18:26
BAndiT1983
in which code?
18:30
ashok_singh[m]
As it needs to be implemented in remote so it will be writen in firmware.hope that's what u mean.
18:31
BAndiT1983
so you want to calculate values from hi-res image data on the remote side?
18:34
ashok_singh[m]
Yes I was thinking that as remote is for still images so, it can be done here only. surely will take time in pic. should I think for an alternative?

BAndiT1983: Probably this is some misunderstanding, Few days back I asked you on mail does this sub task means to implement these tools in beta and controling it's render from remote and your reply was these are purely firmware-related and everything needs to be implemented here and thats why I started to think in this way.

BAndiT1983
all the firmware tasks are firmware-related, where is the problem with that?
19:09
BAndiT1983
but i don't understand why you want to calculate hi-res image data on the remote, this shows that you haven't understood the topic yet

BAndiT1983: Surely I get your point remote is a controller for beta and PIC32 have low SRAM and no graphic accelator so, it does not make sense to have high calculation on remote. Is there something you feel that I should also know Please help me to understand it.
19:22
BAndiT1983
eh, you have to ask questions about stuff and not me explaining you every bit, it's not my task to do spoon-feeding

ok, still trying to find out how to work with cmv.func in firmware 2.0

20:38
vup
max_bxl: the root user has no password, you have to use sudo
20:39
vup
(sudo wants the password of the user you are logged in with, so the operator user, which has axiom as its password)
20:39
max_bxl
ok, but sudo gives me "sudo: ./cmv.func: command not found"
20:39
max_bxl
https://pastebin.com/F3SXymeX
20:41
vup
yes
20:41
vup
I thats because cmv.func is not marked as executable
20:42
vup
I think the easiest would be to log in a root (using sudo -i)
20:42
vup
and then using `. ./cmv.func`
20:42
vup
after that fil_reg should be available
20:45
max_bxl
hum... didn't work https://pastebin.com/7KUybvRN
20:45
vup
after logging in as root you have to change into the /opt/axiom-firmware/software/scripts directory again
20:49
max_bxl
ok
20:55
max_bxl
ok now it seems to work, but not the way it's supposed to be, ie fil_reg 15 0 is not disabling HDMI stream
20:55
max_bxl
maybe I'm adressing the wrong register ?
20:58
max_bxl
ok, it seems I've misunderstood "disable HDMI stream" with "black screen"
20:58
max_bxl
;)
20:58

it seems to work, thank you !

IIRC there's a way to window the image by reducing the amount of lines read out by the sensor
21:09
max_bxl
but not the colomns right ?
21:09
max_bxl
(I'm reading the datasheet v1.12 on githun
21:09
max_bxl
*github)
21:36
max_bxl
question is : how to window the sensor and take an axiom-snap ?
21:36
max_bxl
axiom-snap -h tells "-R <fil> load sensor registers"
21:36
max_bxl
but axiom-snap -2 -b -e 50ms -R 1 1000 > window_test.raw12
21:37
max_bxl
gives loading registers ... error opening >1<. No such file or directory
