CCC started today and you can watch the livestream already

17:03
se6astian
I started updating/reviewing the website one page after the other
17:03
se6astian
https://www.apertus.org/history is the first page I reworked today
17:04
se6astian
I am also continuing building the enclosure for the axiom recorder
17:04
se6astian
the current 3d print design almost works already
17:04
se6astian
but the side with the USB3 connectors of the lattepanda is still too short
17:04
se6astian
as connectors are much more bulky and cables much less flexible than one would expect
17:04
se6astian
so new version soon
17:05
se6astian
I think thats it from my side
17:05
se6astian
anyone else with anything else to discuss/report?
17:06
se6astian
then new record: MEETING CONCLUDED! just 7 minutes :)

Hi all!
17:08
se6astian
hi oscar!
17:08
se6astian
how are you?
17:09
cscar
Fine. Just got my 3rd vaccination so probably sick tomorrow ;) And you?
17:10
se6astian
I first read vacation :)
17:10
se6astian
I am also on vacation... :P
17:10
se6astian
and got my third shot already yes :)
17:12
se6astian
cscar: do you have a 3d printer at your disposal somewhere? for the axiom recorder enclosure?
17:12
se6astian
the question is also what hardware you plan to use
17:12
cscar
No, but I was just thinking the same thing.
17:13
cscar
I'll look into 3D printing possibilities around here (or see what's possible to get one some day)
17:14
cscar
hardware as in PC?
17:14
se6astian
yes
17:14
se6astian
see https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ERt7XjSjaa7GC1EGPR6PFvjFwDJYQMQKQPc4xy9CwBk/edit#heading=h.ueyba6r5gc27
17:15
cscar
I've been running Ubuntu from time to time on a virtual machine on a mac (sorry, but that's what I use for editing films :P )
17:16
cscar
I use Ubuntu for DCP creation and such. It works but probably not the best idea for the recorder.
17:18
se6astian
the recorder should ultimately be mobile
17:19
se6astian
unless you plan to just shoot in your editing suite
17:21
cscar
I do have a mac mini M1 too, but not that portably either.  The Intel NUC NUC7i5BNK is € 342.- ex VAT around here.
17:22
cscar
Which one do you use in the recorder atm?
17:22
se6astian
the lattepanda
17:23
cscar
OK, I'll look into it.
17:23
se6astian
great
17:25
se6astian
lets chat when the package is ready in the next couple of days
17:26
cscar
Perfect!
17:33
cscar
So where are you on vaccination?
17:42
se6astian
omicron persei 8
17:46
cscar
:D
17:50
cscar
Have to go soon, but just quick question. Would a 3D printer with for example 22 x 22 x 25 cm do?
18:07
LordVan
left the channel
18:42
se6astian
cscar: the longest dimension of the current design is 196mm
18:42
se6astian
but I need to extend it as the connectors do not fit properly
18:43
se6astian
still if you place it somehow diagonal on the plate it should fit fine
18:43
se6astian
even if its longer than 22cm
18:54
Bertl
the diagonal is shorter than each of the sides?
18:55
se6astian
?
19:00
Bertl
well, I'm trying to understan how it would fit diagonal when it doesn't fit properly oriented
19:00
Bertl
*understand
19:04
se6astian
its longer than 22cm and but not very wide
19:04
Bertl
ah, was wondering because you asked for a square area
19:05
se6astian
did I?
19:06
Bertl
22x22
19:07
Bertl
ah sorry, that was from oscar
19:07
Bertl
never mind
19:07
se6astian
:)
19:08
se6astian
I forgot to mention at the meeting, I created a first bracket draft for the ZIF socket 3d print "guide"
19:09
se6astian
the challenge is that once inserted into the skeleton there is almost no space left
19:09
se6astian
just around 0.5-0.8mm
19:09
se6astian
so lets see if that 3d print will be sturdy enough to not just break
19:12

19:12
se6astian
will 3d print and see if it makes sense this way
19:15
vup
I think anuejn and I have enough access to mac computers that we should be able to maybe maybe recording with the rust recorder work for macos aswell. Unfortunately currently we are using v4l2 rather directly to interface with the magewell capture card, so that part needs to be reworked to work for macos aswell
19:20
vup
s/maybe maybe/maybe make/
20:22
se6astian
I dont see macs are primary platform of interest for the recorder
20:22
se6astian
even the mac mini is quite big
20:22
se6astian
19.7x19.7cm
20:23
se6astian
at least not for mobile solutions
21:55
cscar
left the channel
23:11
vup
well sure
23:12
vup
but many people seem to have them lying around
23:12
vup
so atleast supporting macos would be interesting I think
23:43
se6astian
sure, if its not much extra effort
