Bertl : where do you tell to the builder thant you want to connect a signal (for example cmv_lvds_ctrl_p) to a pin ? Is it the xdc file ?
13:59
Bertl
yes, the xdc files specify all in/out connections
14:01
Bertl
i.e. everything external to the FPGA is specified there
14:04
Francky_
I don't know why i thought that it were simulation files...
14:04
Francky_
thanks
14:04

the "builder" btw, is Vivado

MatthiasF: Greets.

MatthiasF
troy_s: Hi
20:17
MatthiasF
troy_s: What are you up to ?
20:17
troy_s
MatthiasF: Bertl_zZ is the peep to ping.
20:17
troy_s
MatthiasF: Was about to head out.
20:17
MatthiasF
I pinged se6astian|away and he uploaded some dark frames
20:17
troy_s
Bertl_zZ: Meet MatthiasF, a signal processor extrodinaire. Probably a great head to have around if he does.
20:18
troy_s
MatthiasF: Well that's great.
20:18
troy_s
MatthiasF: I suspect dark frames will only take the photosite noise so far
20:18
MatthiasF
He uploaded there -> http://files.apertus.org/AXIOM-Alpha/
20:19
MatthiasF
It will at least take the bias out
20:19
troy_s
MatthiasF: I'm reasonably sure that Argyll takes the image and inversely rolls it to get the estimated whites.
20:19
troy_s
(As in it knows the target white, so it inversely rolls it to align the whites to the estimated.)
20:20
MatthiasF
Well, my whites are white enough with the direct calibration for now
20:21
MatthiasF
Noise is really the issue right now, especially since I want a clean signal for demosaicking
20:21
MatthiasF
I would also need blank frames to compensate photo response (gain) non uniformity
20:23
MatthiasF
Right now, I'm parsing the metadata block in my framework to get the dark frames exposure times. So I can use those dark frames for the IT8 exposure.
20:24
troy_s
MatthiasF: There was a more ideal 5000k shot somewhere in that test batch of shots.
20:24
troy_s
MatthiasF: Still had errors, but a 3D LUT with some curves pulled the dE down to 4.0 or so.
20:24
MatthiasF
Ok, but which one ?
20:25
troy_s
MatthiasF: (Where 1.0 dE is a Just Noticeable Difference (JND)
20:26
troy_s
MatthiasF: Try one of the scene_daylights
20:27
troy_s
MatthiasF: The scene_halogens also have a better selection of exposures
20:27
troy_s
MatthiasF: But of course, then you are dealing with the white color estimation again, albeit from a source that is likely relatively reliable.
20:29
troy_s
MatthiasF: I can't recall if Herb made the PNGs using the linearized data or not. IT8s are damn fussy, and most are underexposed when shot. You want the chart that is exposed heavily, without heading into the batshit crazy part of the sensor.
20:30
MatthiasF
the PNG I have seen so far are the raw RGB
20:31
troy_s
Right. So hard to judge the exposure from the PNGs.
20:31
troy_s
Argyll will spit out til files etc that are great to analyse.
20:31
MatthiasF
I guess I will just download all raws and review them with my tool
20:32
troy_s
I can't help on the signal stuffs obviously. Only the color stuffs.
20:33
MatthiasF
FTP access would be easier to batch download those files :/
20:35
