slikdigit
no have you? looks interesting
23:20
slikdigit
nice that it has some project organizing right off the bat
23:20
slikdigit
clips and bins
23:21
slikdigit
would be nice to be able to save in and out points to clips
23:21
slikdigit
so you could easily 'cut up' some long footage into managable clips
23:22
slikdigit
I haven't looked beyond the basic editing tutorial
23:23
slikdigit
not sure I'm in love with the ui for compositing (I'm looking at that video now)
23:23
slikdigit
how do you feel about it troy_s?
23:24
troy_s
slikdigit: I haven't touched it. I am desperate to find something that I can hack on for offline work (which is basically exactly what you have been evangelizing for a long while)
23:24
troy_s
Compositing is really down to blueprints at that point.
23:24
intracube
the UI looks similar to kdenlive
23:25
troy_s
(Markers, curves for exporting / importing, etc.)
23:26
troy_s
I am unsure how I feel about bins to be honest. I have always thought that we basically need to crack the nut down into smaller parts, and keep them separate. Bins are blurry.
23:27
troy_s
Example: Logger - trim shots, metadata such as notes, organizer, time code nuances / sync, one-light look LUT applies.
23:27
troy_s
That app would dump out ready for editing in
23:28
troy_s
Cutter. Cut / block / mark / grease pencil. All work print based, so proxy. Key here is frame accuracy, speed / flow of cutting, scrubbing, blocking, etc.
23:29
troy_s
Spit out a robust interchange that you can take to: Compositor, Conformer, Grader, Finisher
23:29
troy_s
Etc.
23:30
troy_s
slikdigit: So somewhere in your idea of a bin, is something that a logger would barf out
23:30
troy_s
And have access to in the cutter.
23:31
troy_s
Flowblade looks like it has EDL support. (Archaic beast that CMX3600 is)
23:31
troy_s
Whatever a bin ends up being, I can't help but think that a design needs to really think through the relationship between the Logging tool and the interaction with the Cutting tool.
23:34
troy_s
slikdigit: We really need a damn discussion about these things. Would be interesting to see how many like minds are interested.
