wp249 shows nicely (in figure 2) how two hardware pathes can be used to check for the 'optimal' sampling point
11:47
Bertl
similar for xapp700 which uses the same basic principle for the data/monitor serdes

hello there

hey Davelister!

apurvanandan[m]: oversampling is also a good approach to synchronize to data, but it has its limitations, especially at higher frequencies
11:53
Bertl
anyway, nice finds, quite relevant too ...

Bertl
off for now ... bbl

with oversamling you can usually increase the BW significantly by having a look at the I/O buffer functionalities.
11:56
apurvanandan[m]
Yes, these are rather generic dcuments. There is very less information available regarding sending/ receiving data at high speed with embedded clock 'without' using transceivers.
11:57
apurvanandan[m]
Kjetil: Could you please elaborate? Does BW stands for bandwidth?
11:57
Kjetil
yes
11:58
Kjetil
You need to have a look at the double datarate buffers in the input stage and usually generate some clocks that are running 90 degree out of phase to get 4 high-speed sampling points
