Hi all. I would like to share a post on the blackmagic forums regarding image noise. I have previously read TEC cooling an image sensor just reduces dark current noise, which is useful on very slow shutter speeds especially for astrophotography. However, I have found this user which took a BMPC4k (same CMV12000 sensor as the A° Axiom Beta). The improvements are jaw-dropping.

we have a SFE which doesn't use the ZIF socket and thus allows for easy cooling of the sensor from the back

does BM provide the sensor temperature somehow?

well then those results can be anything honestly :)

so, despite this not being scientifically, it suggests an impressive correlation between noise and temperature

Hey, I have just found another user which cooled his BMCC (not the 4k one unfortunately) with a peltier device. He cools the camera's aluminium casing (which is thermally coupled rather badly to the sensor) for 20 minutes before a shot. The forum thread has nice and detailed information. It seems that part of my message wasn't sent (the blame is on my IRC client), it doesn't appear on the log. Sorry for the inconvenience. The guy was able to push the camera's Raw video up to 12.800ASA!!! A bit of noise reduction and the footage is usable. Hi everyone.

I'm far from an expert on high speed digital design, but as my requirements are a lot less strict, I figured I'd be able to do it. The only real issue right now is HDL, because I really suck at it, and I haven't actually done any real projects with FPGAs.

However, I encountered the most hilarious, stupid problem - the microzed is not in stock ANYWHERE except some random supplier from Shenzhen for over $300(7010)

As you guys have done a massive amount of work already, albeit with a much better sensor(that I can't dream of affording), is there anything I should wach out for?
