we think about have contact and create something with french community. Maybe to meet on maker faire, to present the camera etc... But we can't have contact directly on the ecosystem!

It could be great to have some posters or a kit for demo on events. But it could be great to have a technical guys that know perfectly every thing one the beta !

After we can join our forces and if we are a little team, with 3d print developpers, software etc... it can show to everybody the power of the concept !
12:22
se6astian
sounds like a plan
12:22

when would there be such an event?

the next big maker faire is next week in paris so too late for me to organize something. Maybe we can start to contact all french guys and try to planning an event for the end of the summer when some beta will be here ?

Hi all. I would like to share a post on the blackmagic forums regarding image noise. I have previously read TEC cooling an image sensor just reduces dark current noise, which is useful on very slow shutter speeds especially for astrophotography. However, I have found this user which took a BMPC4k (same CMV12000 sensor as the A° Axiom Beta). The improvements are jaw-dropping.

This is the link: https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29701
17:25
Bertl
great! thanks!
17:26
rgon
At 3°C the noise at 800ISO (+3 F Stops) is almost gone. Don't forget all the pictures have been pushed up 3 stops
17:27
Bertl
we have a SFE which doesn't use the ZIF socket and thus allows for easy cooling of the sensor from the back
17:28
Bertl
so there are a number of options to test/investigate that with the Axiom
17:30
rgon
Wow cool! It would be great to see a better study on that!
17:31
Bertl
find somebody with an Axiom Beta and make your case
17:31
se6astian
I just had a look at the forum thread
17:32
se6astian
to me it is not clear how the temperature was measured
17:32
se6astian
does BM provide the sensor temperature somehow?
17:34
Bertl
I think it was just the environment
17:34
se6astian
well then those results can be anything honestly :)
17:35
Bertl
sure, but it is unlikely that they have heavy noise in the FPGA or other circuitry
17:36
Bertl
so, despite this not being scientifically, it suggests an impressive correlation between noise and temperature
17:36
Bertl
(which of course needs to be verified, it is just a single example)
17:36
se6astian
agreed
17:37
se6astian
luckily we can measure the sensor temperature on the Beta in several places and quite accurately :)

Hey, I have just found another user which cooled his BMCC (not the 4k one unfortunately) with a peltier device. He cools the camera's aluminium casing (which is thermally coupled rather badly to the sensor) for 20 minutes before a shot. The forum thread has nice and detailed information. Here it is: https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24688

It seems that part of my message wasn't sent (the blame is on my IRC client), it doesn't appear on the log. Sorry for the inconvenience. The guy was able to push the camera's Raw video up to 12.800ASA!!! A bit of noise reduction and the footage is usable. For those who haven't got much time, he posted a video here: https://vimeo.com/83725166/ (password: lowlight)

Hi everyone.
23:06
Spirit532
I'm currently working on a much, MUCH cheaper and lower-spec camera based on the microzed 7010 and the CMV2k sensor, so I thought I'd join
23:07
Spirit532
I'm far from an expert on high speed digital design, but as my requirements are a lot less strict, I figured I'd be able to do it. The only real issue right now is HDL, because I really suck at it, and I haven't actually done any real projects with FPGAs.
23:08
Spirit532
People have told me that I have to take this slow and learn the basics first, but I've learned C/C++ by dismantling kernel drivers and hacking games, skipping all the hello worlds and such.
23:09
Spirit532
However, I encountered the most hilarious, stupid problem - the microzed is not in stock ANYWHERE except some random supplier from Shenzhen for over $300(7010)
23:10
Spirit532
So I'm somewhat stuck at the moment, as the CMV2000 and the Microzed 7010 are the only components that are rather hard to acquire, though the sensor is on Mouser, which I think do ship to Belarus(which is where I am).
23:11
Spirit532
As you guys have done a massive amount of work already, albeit with a much better sensor(that I can't dream of affording), is there anything I should wach out for?
