05:45
John_K
hey
05:45
John_K
Bertl_zZ: se6astian|away: either of you about?
05:45
John_K
one *last* component question: what values are used for L1-L18 on the power board?

Bertl
morning folks!
07:56
Bertl
irieger: start coding :)
07:57
Bertl
John_K: sec, we should have an almost complete BOM by now

Today is the last day in my nice lab for this year, our school is closed till beginning of january than. So today I'll shoot some tests with tungsten and HMI light to have some good lit images to play with the next days. the basement-lab at home is only with a construction light ...
08:44
irieger
(Which is a good and cheap light source with a continous spectra which is why I bought a larger second one a few weeks ago so it's not completly bad)
08:46
irieger
Bertl: btw. i can get 37 frames in full resolution without killing the linux ;-)
08:51
Bertl
interesting
08:53
Bertl
ah, yes
08:53
Bertl
(1024-128)*1024*1024/(4096*3072*12/8*64/48) = 37.333
08:57
irieger
yep, did the same calc ;-)
08:58
irieger
mostly. Why that 64/48 at the end?
08:58
Bertl
because we store four sensel (4x12=48) in a 64bit word
08:59
irieger
Ok. Did the calc without it and thought I'd get a bit more in there ;-)
08:59
Bertl
the other 16bit are used for the overlay on HDMI out (which could be avoided for just snap sequences)
09:02
irieger
btw. I just did my first non-3072 image to test something and sam that register 2 is 456 as expected but reg 34 is 2616 while reg 1 is 2160 as expected. Would have expected 32 to also be 2160.
09:04
Bertl
slow down, what number of lines and how did you set them?
09:04
irieger
ok, got it. Good to know but no problem for me as 37 frames is god for now
09:04
irieger
cmv_snap3 -L2160
09:05
Bertl
that will center the read-out area in the middle of the sensor
09:05
Bertl
i.e. (3072-2160)/2 from the top
09:05
Bertl
and similarily (3072-2160)/2 from the bottom
09:06
irieger
that's what I hoped which is good (as I wrote "as expected"). And at the end I meant 34. As it is the size not the last line due to the data sheet
09:07
Bertl
ah, so you are reporting a bug in cmv_snap3 then? :)
09:07
irieger
"The value in this register defines the number of lines of the first windows (min=1, max=3072)
09:07
Bertl
just change the code, recompile it and see if that works for you
09:07
irieger
jep, I'd say so. Wanted to check back if it may be one ...
09:07
Bertl
then make a diff and upload it somewhere :)
09:07
irieger
ok
09:08
irieger
I already wondered why /opt/BERTL isn't in a git ... ;-)
09:08
Bertl
it will soon be in beta-software
09:08
Bertl
probably as userspace-tools
09:08
Bertl
I just have to merge the different branches we have right now
09:09
Bertl
i.e. your cmv_snap3 is slightly different from the one used in other Betas because of the sequence feature
09:10
irieger
ok.
09:12
irieger
seems to work. The captured data was already 2160 but I just wondered why the register carried another value ...
09:12
Bertl
as you can see, the sequence code was a rather quick hack with little to none testing :)
09:13
irieger
Bertl: Don't tell it anyone. "We have unit tests that check everything, even themselves ..." ;-)
09:16
Bertl
feel free to let them check my code :)
09:17
irieger
you think I have tests for anything of my hacky matlab helper code I currently use for "live" analysing the data? ;-)
09:17
Bertl
of course :)
09:17
irieger
If you only use code by yourself you don't even need good error messages I'd say ;-)

Bertl_oO: it seems a ferrite bead has been spec'd instead of an inductor for L
17:26
John_K
components
17:26
John_K
any specific reasoning behind that?
17:36
Bertl_oO
yes, it was always designed as a filter, the inductor was more a 'missing symbol' back then
17:36
Bertl_oO
we will probably update the schematic in the near future

Bertl
excellent!
18:02
John_K
I was relying on the google docs spreadsheets at least having a complete component listing which wasn't true for the power boards
18:02
John_K
I hope I didn't miss anything, but I guess the board house will let me know :P
18:03
Bertl
the BOM I linked is the one we used for the most recent boards, and they are working fine
