| 06:50 | vnksnkr | so I've been working on the VHDL UART-SPI bridge task although I'm more comfortable with Verilog :) For the task do I need to configure the spi master's clock as well or can that be something default?

| 06:53 | Bertl_oO | vnksnkr: you can assume a common clock, e.g. 10 Mhz or 50MHz
| 06:54 | Bertl_oO | of course, if you have some FPGA devel board to test with and that has a different clock, then just use that
| 07:00 | vnksnkr | I don't unfortunately have one at home and the uni lab is closed. I'm still working on it. There seems to be some problem when sending data back from the slave .And on top of that my final exams start on wednesday :(
| 07:02 | Bertl_oO | student application period runs till April 13th, so plenty of time left

| 14:29 | MortarArt | se6ast1an - you asked a few days ago about the application for my "Bike computer" project, and I replied but I can't find the reply in the logs so I might've been disconnected. Basically I want to build a refined version of this; https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4759615
| 14:29 | MortarArt | My goal is to integrate an android/ubuntu touch bike computer, headlight, and a high end 'action camera' into a compact package that can easily be taken off of the bike and mounted on a desk mount for charging. I'll do it all open source. But I don't want to duplicate anyone's work, hence why I'm here asking questions. Low light performance for the
| 14:29 | MortarArt | camera is important; at least enough to make decent footage of what's in the headlights.
| 14:29 | MortarArt | The reason for using android/ubuntu touch rather than just latching off of one of the existing raspberry pi bike computer projects is that a lot of people prefer to use an android app like Strava, IP Bike or Google Maps for navigation / info.
| 14:30 | se6ast1an | interesting, thanks for sharing
| 14:30 | MortarArt | No worries.
| 14:46 | BAndiT1983 | have you considered additional IR headlights? to support the camera
| 14:49 | MortarArt | That's not a terrible idea. But I would imagine that power put into those would be equally effective in the visible spectrum?
| 14:51 | BAndiT1983 | was just thinking of surveillance cameras and how they film at night, so if the power comsumption is not big, then maybe it could help to brighten up/recover details the recorded material
| 14:51 | BAndiT1983 | *in the recorded
| 14:53 | BAndiT1983 | i suppose the cameras in cars, e.g. for parking, are working in the same way, as they switch the mode when it's dark, so things are visible enough at wider range to not collide with them
| 14:53 | MortarArt | Oh yeah, but I think the aim of IR security cameras is to not have bright floodlights on your property constantly at night. To reduce light pollution, while still being able to record. But in this case; well for most cyclists they'd prefer to be able to see as clearly as possible.
| 14:54 | MortarArt | And at the moment power consumption is not insignificant with the LED headlight I have. I burn through a 4 amp hour battery in about 90 minutes.
| 14:55 | MortarArt | Which results in relatively good footage from a RunCam.
