MichaelH - Anything else inbound?
17:58
MichaelH
Currently im checking the measures in the models for the visualizations, i think there were some scaling issues
18:07
RexOrCine
I'm not sure about the use of Arri lenses as a constant, or rather, it would be good to employ a constant, and I'm not convinced that Arri would be the best move in this respect. So while that issue is being thought about I would just keep it...
18:08
RexOrCine
... in mind when thinking about spending time on lens work.
18:13
MichaelH
The Arri Lens has a front diameter of 95 mm
18:13
MichaelH
axiom Body has a hight of 86mm
18:13
intracube

18:14
MichaelH
E-mount has a outer diameter of 46mm
18:17
RexOrCine
Understood. This comes down to the potential for advertising another camera manufacturer. I wouldn't like to come back saying "Yeah we've decided not to use Arri in promo" after you'd spent a lot of time getting the look just right, see what I mean?
18:18
MichaelH
Yes of course, but i think its important to show real scale units, otherwise some people could get the wrong idea
18:19
MichaelH
Also I think the mount i visualized have also the wrong diameter for the e mount
18:20
RexOrCine
Right.

This is the problem I'm having right now :)
18:23

18:23
RexOrCine
I wonder if you could get around it by including a cheeseplate maybe?
18:25
MichaelH
Yes I also thought about it, get this thing on a kind of a rig. but i have the fear that it will have too much visual noise and camera isn't in focus anymore
18:26
MichaelH
maybe just create another lens that would fit and also have an e-mount so we don't need to show an adaptor
18:26
RexOrCine
eg http://hdvideoshop.com/529-home_default/smallrig-cheese-plate-multi-purpose-mounting-plate-.jpg
18:27
BAndiT1983
you could create a cheese plate or simple rif as silhouette/shadow, so the camera stands out
18:27
BAndiT1983
*rig
18:28
RexOrCine
Precisely. This is what I mean though, the lens is of secondary importance really. However, and like I say I'd rather we knew precisely what lens brand we might use generally in promo, Tokina seem like a good fit. We'd probably need a few days...
18:29
RexOrCine
... or discussion/interaction in order to settle on a particular brand.
18:29
RexOrCine
of discussion*
18:30
MichaelH
or just create generic lens, remove the logos of brand etc
18:31
MichaelH
But I'm not shure if this would be a good idea
18:31
RexOrCine
Well it would be good to get a relationship forming. I'm in the process of paving the way for that now but it'll likely take a few days.
18:31
BAndiT1983
generic lens is a way to go at the moment
18:32
BAndiT1983
as you already have a model, which is easily reworkable for that
18:33
RexOrCine
Exactly. Just removing the logo would create the potential for problems with regards to intellectual property.
18:33
BAndiT1983
one thing which i mentioned yesterday, but it disappeared in chat somewhere, the knobs should be a little bit smaller and a little bit more round
18:33
MichaelH
Yes Bandit, jus remove the arri from the texture and scale the lens a bit down, this should work for now.
18:33
RexOrCine
Yeah.
18:33
BAndiT1983
what about the mount of the lens, is it custom or arri one?
18:34
MichaelH
As long as the enclousre body is not ready, it isn't that important to get a real lens
18:34
MichaelH
the mount is custom, but i suggest just to remove it
18:35
MichaelH
and just pretend that the generic lens has an e mount
18:36
RexOrCine
It may actually be beneficial for me to have images of the camera with an Arri lens mounted, but all i was saying was, I wouldn't worry too much about being precise or spending too much time on the lens aspect.
18:36
RexOrCine
... for now.
18:38
MichaelH
Of course we could also let it like it was, but i think if somebody realy have this lens and know how big it is, it maybe would be confusing if the body is bigger in the picture
18:39
BAndiT1983
it's just the abscence of the rig which is irritating in the matter of relative sizes
18:41
BAndiT1983
not what i was looking for, but also nice -> http://www.emp3d.com/data/articles/c7ae14dd-a197-4340-a922-1d1be26c583c/fisheyelenstute2.html
18:42
BAndiT1983
was just searching for presentations of camera producers, to get an idea
18:42
BAndiT1983
we need something like that, but inverted of course -> https://s3.amazonaws.com/lenspro-media-prod/product_img/2016/04/05/arri_alexa_mini-1.jpg.600x415_q85.jpg
18:43
BAndiT1983
with much less details, just simplistic representation, so the people get the idea
18:45

ours would more look like this

19:23
MichaelH
okay if we use it we have to give credit as i understand
19:24
BAndiT1983
maybe contacting the author would help, just as idea
19:25
BAndiT1983
the model is nothing special, so i don't think that there would be much to it
19:25
MichaelH
would be too easy
19:25
MichaelH
:)
19:25
MichaelH
yes, wouldn't also be a big deal to model something like this
19:25
MichaelH
not such a big deal
19:26
BAndiT1983
that was the thing, which i omitted from my answer ;) didn't want to bother you with modelling too much
