| 17:00 | Bertl | MEETING TIME!
| 17:00 | Bertl | please msg me when you have something to report
| 17:01 | vup | is here
| | 17:04 | Bertl | please go ahead vup
| 17:04 | vup | sure
| 17:05 | vup | so last week I started to implement one of the last "missing" features in narui (the ui framework for the recorder)
| 17:05 | vup | Which is the ability to render parts of the UI "offscreen" and then use a custom shader to render it onto the main target
| 17:05 | vup | The most common usecases of this are things like drop shadows, group opacity, backdrop blur and similar effects
| 17:06 | vup | The implementation is still wip and (obviously) still has some bugs, but it was actually a lot simpler than expected
| 17:06 | vup | (you can find the current code for it here: https://github.com/apertus-open-source-cinema/narui/pull/15)
| 17:06 | vup | and a short demo of it here: https://files.niemo.de/2021-09-18%2003-17-11.mkv
| 17:07 | vup | (I was too lazy to implement a reasonable UI effect, so you will have to do with wiggly text :P)
| 17:07 | vup | thats it from me
| 17:07 | Bertl | thanks a bunch!
| 17:08 | Bertl | it looks like that's about it for today, anybody else who would like to report?
| 17:09 | Bertl | over the weekend, I dug out the HDMI Shield we designed and built a few years ago
| 17:11 | Bertl | because now that we updated the gateware to handle raw data transfers, I wanted to evaluate how good the shield would perform as Preview Output in addition to two HDMI plugin modules which do the raw transport
| 17:11 | Bertl | took some time to get the pinout right, because it seems I kind of swapped some pins on the shield interface back then, but the results are surprising
| 17:12 | Bertl | at 1080p60 we get almost the same quality out of the shield than from the HDMI plugins, despite the fact that the header interface of the shields is really not suited for high speed transfers

| 17:13 | cscar | Sorry, late. Hi all!
| 17:14 | Bertl | I also updated the gateware to produce a slightly better A/B pattern for the raw HDMI transfer which requires way less computation to assemble the frames back
| 17:14 | Bertl | it follows the monochrome layout and basically splits the lines into A/B frames
| 17:15 | Bertl | this makes it kind of trivial to reassemble them into the raw data
| 17:15 | Bertl | performance is good, everything is configurable so I guess the next steps are to push the limits of the HDMI digitizer
| 17:17 | Bertl | I also got a visit from se6astian last week (he brought cake :) where we modified the fan headers on the Betas
| 17:17 | Bertl | that's it from my side for this week
| 17:17 | Bertl | cscar: anything you would like to report?
| 17:17 | vup | nice stuff!
| 17:19 | se6astian | I am in a live broadcast currently, thanks bertl for moderating
| 17:20 | Bertl | se6astian: wanna report from your live broadcast? :)
| 17:21 | se6astian | Sure, it's about identification of galactossyltransferase
| 17:21 | se6astian | This current slide at least :)
| 17:22 | Bertl | that's basically sugar transfer :)
| 17:23 | cscar | Bertl: nothing really to report atm. Just following along (great progress BTW)
| 17:23 | Bertl | okay, then I consider this meeting concluded!
| 17:24 | Bertl | thanks everyone! see you all next week!
| 17:24 | cscar | Your a fast moderator :D
| 17:24 | cscar | See you!
| 17:26 | Bertl | thanks, I take that as a compliment :)
