| 00:23 | Rebelj12a | actually I may be able to adjust that down to 50 based on the lensing elements inside.

| 14:19 | __anton__ | Hi, an idea: these guys seem to be fantics of making lens mount adapters: http://www.solidcamera.com/#!lens-mounts/c207j E.g. they make smth which plugs into a camera and on the other has got PL mount. Their thingies also have a way to be attached to rails. The resulting contraption is sold $500-$700. They also produce 0.025mm and 0.08mm shims.
| 14:19 | __anton__ | Just wondering if they could be asked to produce lens mounts for Axiom - if things make sense money wise
| 14:19 | __anton__ | Looking at the photos it seems they got some experience
| 14:21 | __anton__ | http://lesbosher.co.uk/ looks a bit expensive for the task though it doesn't hurt asking for a quote either
| 15:01 | Bertl_oO | yes, two component/modular lens adapters are manufactured by some companies
| 15:02 | Bertl_oO | we had a talk with P+S Technik, a German company
| 15:03 | Bertl_oO | but yes, feel free to ask them if they would be interested in an AXIOM specific base mount
| 15:03 | Bertl_oO | what we would need is the interface to their mount adapters
| 15:03 | Bertl_oO | and the parameters to get the focal length right

| 21:06 | surami | hi!
| 21:08 | surami | there will be gigabit ethernet ports on the beta?
| 21:08 | se6astian | one yes
| 21:09 | surami | but i has only 125 MB bandwith
| 21:09 | surami | i have something in my mind again
| 21:09 | surami | :)
| 21:09 | surami | to store data
| 21:10 | surami | but i don't know if it would work or not
| 21:10 | surami | if MLV will be the video container
| 21:10 | surami | maybe it could be splitted
| 21:11 | surami | and send the information out to 3 ethernet ports
| 21:11 | surami | lets count with around 300 MB/s alltogether
| 21:12 | surami | 375 would be to close to the border
| 21:12 | surami | so if the file could be splitted
| 21:13 | surami | then this PC Engines apu system board
| 21:13 | surami | could get the dataflow through 3 ethernet ports
| 21:13 | surami | http://www.pcengines.ch/apu.htm
| 21:14 | g3gg0 | MLV is designed to split it on a per-frame level
| 21:14 | surami | then store it on raid msata maybe?
| 21:15 | surami | yes i know that
| 21:15 | surami | but could it be splitted somehow?
| 21:15 | g3gg0 | ok :)
| 21:15 | g3gg0 | ?
| 21:15 | g3gg0 | ah you mean different paths
| 21:15 | g3gg0 | i dont know, but i am confident that bertl is working hard on evaluating possibilites

| 21:17 | g3gg0 | uh, why HDMI
| 21:17 | g3gg0 | its all about LVDS interfaces
| 21:17 | g3gg0 | which connector doesnt matter
| 21:18 | surami | well i don't understand this "chiness" stuffs :P
| 21:18 | surami | but ok
| 21:19 | surami | then let's Bertl to do it, he is the tech master here as i see
| 21:19 | g3gg0 | 3xHDMI means 3x3xdifferential pairs to get data out of the device
| 21:20 | g3gg0 | what you have on the other side of the cable, who knows? maybe some additional fpga board that also has a multi-SATA interface. maybe. maybe not.
| 21:20 | g3gg0 | as you say. let the hardware gurus think about it
| 21:20 | surami | yes
| 21:21 | surami | it will be better
| 21:21 | surami | but i'm too curios :)
| 21:21 | g3gg0 | i am sure the best solution will find its way into the beta
| 21:21 | g3gg0 | we all are

| 23:09 | Bertl | __anton__: you are considering them as sockets?
| 23:10 | Bertl | the problem here is, for through hole that might actually work
| 23:10 | __anton__ | hi Bertl, yeah we had this chat before right? You said you'd need a dummy sensor during reflow
| 23:10 | Bertl | but for SMD, you have the problem that they must be aligned, yes
| 23:10 | Bertl | ah, okay, so you know :)
| 23:11 | __anton__ | dummy sensor would just be a piece of metal with several pins
| 23:11 | __anton__ | yes because you told me :)
| 23:11 | Bertl | yes, but not that trivial, i.e. we can't use soldered in pins, because they would get lose during reflow
| 23:11 | __anton__ | true
| 23:12 | Bertl | that's why the peel-away are so appealing (pun intended :)
| 23:13 | Bertl | we get the stability for the reflow and we get rid of the 'socket' part after
| 23:15 | slikdigit | joined the channel |
| 23:26 | __anton__ | Bertl: maybe I'm wrong to worry about it.. but I'll let it out. Looking at this photo from Sebastian http://www.octoray.co.uk/axiom/misc/sensor-photo.jpg I can't help thinking that if the cold-plate runs between sensor PCB and the sensor it will end up only 1mm away from the mount. Will it be in any way an obstacle to trying to cool the sensor? E.g. will it not end up cooling the mount as well?
| 23:27 | __anton__ | Then the screws from the mount need to go into something. What do they go into? 1mm plastic wall? wouldn't work.. into the cold plate? but then this is another way to transfer cold to the mount
| 23:27 | Bertl | well, first, cooling the mount might not be the worst thing, because it will indirectly keep the sensor cool from the fromt as well
| 23:28 | __anton__ | If we're speaking about using the mount to dissipate the heat from the sensor - yes it's a good rediator
| 23:28 | Bertl | second, unless we make contact with the mount, the gap (of 1mm) between plate and mount will be a strong isolator
| 23:28 | Bertl | i.e. be it air or some insulator between mount/plate, it can be quite efficient even with only 1mm
| 23:29 | Bertl | that's why you want your processor to touch the heat sink and have micrometer thick heat coducting paste between
| 23:30 | Bertl | it is really a factor of 1000 or more between air and e.g. aluminum/copper
| 23:30 | Bertl | (regarding heat conductance)
| 23:32 | __anton__ | ah ok, thx for explaining :)
| 23:32 | __anton__ | ..and then you have holes in the cold plate where the lens mount screws go into smth?
| 23:33 | Bertl | yes, the idea is to screw the cold plate against the lens mount
| 23:33 | Bertl | placing the sensor precisely on those four points (with or without shims)
| 23:33 | Bertl | and also making excellent contact with the cold plate
