i just assembled the unit yesterday evening (see telegram)

and connected the c790 via the adapter to cam/disp0

c790 has green light

and i too default boot.tt

well, I've been testing the Axiom Beta/Raspberry Pi5 combo a little more

have been testing with two tc358743 based converters

(currently doing some reliability tests)

USB drives resulted in really bad performance on the write side (good on read though)

I also plan to do some USB SATA testing

that's it from my side I guess ...

so USB would be an additional option

might also be possible to improve that with a better connection and shielding

Bertl: what have you tested for USB drives? there are some good and many bad

it is supposed to have up to 1GB read and slighly below that write throughput

all the other storage ideas I would have are USB based, fast SSD with USB-C connector like Samsung T7 or a quality cfexpress card reader with for example a 1TB Angelbird CFexpress card with 1500MB/​s write speed for example

I'm in contact with Kingston btw, they are 'processing' my issue at the moment

frankly to me what you observe sounds better than expected

i think that is beyond the stick form factor

se6astian: yeah, PCIe on the RPi5 can basically run whatever single lane card you like

it makes sense for the USB 3 side to investigate SATA and NVMe bridges as we are basically limited to USB there

but I also have the rp5 there as well, so many interesting things and too little time :)
