se6astian: I updated the payment document (SEPA/paypal/bank options)
14:11
intracube
the advice for UK backers should be to check with their bank
14:11
intracube
charges for SEPA here are, eh, kinda complex

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_Euro_Payments_Area
14:57
danieel
its one of its fee accounting option ;)
14:57
danieel
basically everybody pays its own fees
14:57
intracube
is confused
14:58
danieel
google for ben/our/sha
14:58
intracube
ah
14:58
danieel
who pays the fees.. beneficiar, ourselve or share the cost
15:00
intracube
the complexity is we don't use the euro, so UK banks are exempt from some of the SEPA rules on charging customers
15:01
se6astian
intracube: thanks!

danieel: the rules say; a bank in France (for example) can't charge more to transfer euros to a bank in Germany than it would to another bank in France
15:04
intracube
and UK banks can also set whatever exchange rates/fees they want
15:05
danieel
but still if you choose to send 100e, it should come as 100e.. but it would cost unexpected amount of pounds for the sender..
15:05
intracube
so it might not be cheaper than PayPal
15:05
intracube
danieel: that's right, yep
15:07
intracube
and the UK bank would also deduct a separate fee (£8-15 often)
15:07
danieel
that was the case few years ago.. now we got free domestic transactions, and sepa is 0.73e flat
15:08
intracube
does your country use the euro?
15:08
danieel
no (czech)
15:08
intracube
ah. then that's much better value
15:08
intracube
some UK bank accounts don't have the option of sending the money internationally...
15:09
intracube
at least not easily
15:11
danieel
ive got both usd/eur accounts after some time, the exchange rate is not the best.. so it is better to pay a known flat fee (on usd it is $4) and not loose on conversion here and there
15:12
danieel
with ~ 5% on paypal, the bank does come better, but it is not very easy for the end-user
15:15
intracube
there are also dedicated 'currency brokers'
15:16
intracube
which people say give better exchange rates than banks
