somebody thought that there would be virtex chips for SD resolution ? :)
21:19
danieel
btw the 3g-sdi to DP converter has virtex5, and some lowend memory... but it cant handle all DP screens, which is shame
21:22
Bertl
so it doesn't conform to the standard or the screens do not conform?
21:22
danieel
i think it has a whitelist of resolutions
21:23
danieel
the apple screens (ipad3) and macbook pro does not fit that list - but e.g. a 2560x1600 screen would do
21:28
Bertl
should be easy to add those modes then ... if you have the code :)

23:05
gcolburn
how's it going?
23:05
Bertl
fine, thanks! and for you?
23:08
gcolburn
good
23:08
gcolburn
how's progress?
23:08
gcolburn
i saw the emails about the hdmi
23:09
Bertl
yeah, I wanted to test it since I got the zybo
23:10
Bertl
I was surprised how good it works without any dedicated gigabit tranceivers

i missed anything you said...
23:13
Bertl
if so, it should be in the logs :)
23:14
gcolburn
where are the logs?
23:14
Bertl
http://irc.apertus.org/
23:15
gcolburn
ah thanks
23:15
gcolburn
so what motivated you get a zybo (or perhaps you're borrowing it?)?
23:15
gcolburn
i hadn't seen that device
23:16
Bertl
well, once we decided that we will go with the zynq for now, we had a look at various development boards and if we could utilize them for our purpose
23:16
Bertl
the ZYBO is quite new, it is simple and doesn't have any high pin count connectors at all
23:17
Bertl
i.e. just a bunch of pmod connectors
23:17
Bertl
it is also rather cheap, but it is nice for testing stuff
23:19
gcolburn
i see
23:20
gcolburn
I got some microSD cards so I can start using the micro zed more
23:20
gcolburn
are you currently doing anything with the micro zed? or just focusing on the PCBs?
23:20
Bertl
I did some tests with the microzed, yes
23:21
Bertl
but it is a little tricky to use without our planned addons
23:21
gcolburn
yeah
23:21
Bertl
i.e. you need a separate jtag interface/cable, you also have no PL output except for the done led :)
23:22
Bertl
but I can upload a 'hello world' for the zedboard PL if you like :)
23:22
gcolburn
hehe
23:22
Bertl
s/zedboard/microzed/ I mean
23:23
gcolburn
I was just going to start with trying to get wifi working on it
23:23
gcolburn
is there a linux distro you're leaning toward?
23:23
Bertl
currently archlinux seems like a good choice
23:30
gcolburn
looks like it has the main packages I'd be interested in… (not that I couldn't manually compile/install them)
23:31
Bertl
it is also rather easy to create packages for arch
23:32
gcolburn
great
23:32
gcolburn
I see they have a zed board platform: http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/xilinx/zedboard
23:33
Bertl
yes
23:38
gcolburn
which PCB(s) do you anticipate will be ready for testing first?
23:39
Bertl
I already received the switcher PCBs, just need to check and assemble them
23:39
gcolburn
oh great. didn't know they were done
23:40
Bertl
I think the next test PCB might be the SD one
23:40
gcolburn
great
23:40
gcolburn
keep me posted on when I should ship the sensor and other items
23:40
Bertl
yes, will do, no worries ...
