hi everyone, I'm trying to get FOSS DisplayPort (input and output) core up, at the moment it looks like its going to cost around USD $25k - I'm willing to pitch in $5k myself, I was wondering if you had any idea on how / where to get the remaining ish $20k - getting 4-5 companies to pitch in $5k each would be the simplest option

troy_s
???
22:39
troy_s
To get a DisplayPort license mithro ?
22:40
mithro
troy_s: no, to fund a developer to write the core
22:40
mithro
troy_s: we estimate it's about 6 months worth of work
22:40
troy_s
mithro: Can't just borrow from the open drivers for it?
22:41
mithro
troy_s: this is a core for an FPGA
22:41
troy_s
Ah. Gotcha. So none exist?
22:41
troy_s
(I would have thought a few DP boards existed.)
22:42
mithro
troy_s: plenty of "pay for" cores exist - but no FOSS implementations
22:43
troy_s
mithro: What is your design need out of curiosity?
22:43
mithro
I thought the apertus might be interested because it's a common display technology and royalty free compared to HDMI
22:43
mithro
troy_s: I'm working on open hardware display capture devices for recording conferences
22:44
troy_s
Interesting.
22:45
mithro
the project is called TimVideos -> code.timvideos.us, our current capture device is called the HDMI2USB

a little less ambitious than apertus :)
