Bertl_oO
Hello omar31!
00:17
Bertl_oO
Yes, the eMMC plugin can be considered a prototype to investigate our options regarding eMMC storage for the AXIOM Beta
00:18
Bertl_oO
so it is a single eMMC chip directly attached to the Zynq IOs and the task is to get a controller implemented on the Zynq which can write and read data at high speeds
00:20
Bertl_oO
I will upload the schematic and board design shortly ...
00:21
omar31
The schematic is already uploaded on the task description
00:21
Bertl_oO
ah, perfect
00:24
omar31
But in the task description, it is written that the AXIOM Beta will feature eMMC Plugin "with a Lattice FPGA"
00:24
omar31
What does that mean?
00:26
Bertl_oO
It means that once we have the necessary HDL to handle the eMMC stuff, we will expand on the eMMC idea and create a larger plugin module which has several eMMC chips on it and a low power FPGA (likely a Lattice) to handle those
00:27
omar31
Is this required for this task?
00:27
Bertl_oO
no, we probably won't reach the stage during GSoC 2020
00:28
Bertl_oO
(unless you are exceptionally fast :)
00:28
omar31
Ok, now I get it, thanks
00:29
Bertl_oO
So for the task, the hardware is very likely limited to the plugin linked and the implementation on the Zynq to handle it
00:30
omar31
Yes, thanks for the clarification.
00:34
Bertl_oO
you're welcome!

I tried all day yesterday (brute-forcing all the options using imagemagick and the online tool), but couldnot find the correct option
10:21
rajdeep
The result is that it turned to half black image with many dots from full black image
10:35
rajdeep
I'm pretty sure that problem is in the C Source header only

did you read up on bitwise operators then?
11:27

I know how bitwise operators work in general, but I dont know how it works here

I dont know also how images are stored in these C header files

Betl-oO: I am storing checksum using both procfile and Ioctl seperately .For checksum i am taking XOR of the hexadecimal values of the characters and stored it in a procfile
16:28

However I am unable to access the procfile somitimes because of the Linux's OOM killer (displays killed)

any news to report Bertl?
17:04
Bertl
not much ... we spent last week with a mix of covid-19 related stuff and the usual business
17:05
Bertl
we had a meeting at the hub, finished the dev kit for Jan, made some progress on the power board
17:06
se6ast1an
Jans Beta shipped today
17:06
Bertl
spent some time with GSoC 2020 preparations and tested/fixed some computers
17:07

17:07
Bertl
besides that, rework and the usual business
17:08

that's it from my side for this week
17:08
se6ast1an
thanks!
17:08

quick points from me:
17:08
se6ast1an
CERN released a new OHL: https://home.cern/news/news/knowledge-sharing/cern-updates-its-open-hardware-licence
17:08
se6ast1an
V2
17:09
se6ast1an
maybe worth considering for our hardware
17:09
se6ast1an
Project Ambrosia was officially launched last week
17:09
se6ast1an
https://wiki.apertus.org/index.php/Project_Ambrosia
17:10
se6ast1an
its not meant for the wider public though but for developers and people who currently have an AXIOM Beta development kit
17:10
se6ast1an
to encourage collection/creation of content and critical review of images and ultimately improvements to image processing/calibration routines/workflows
17:11
se6ast1an
to establish a self hosted online document collaboration service we tested collabora office and etherpad recently
17:11
se6ast1an
collabora had big issues (maybe related to the installation provided - not sure)
17:12
se6ast1an
etherpad worked mostly good but we couldnt install any plugins so a lot of features were missing
17:12
se6ast1an
like adding images, etc.
17:12
se6ast1an
confluence was considered but deemed not actually self hosted
17:12
se6ast1an
so the search continues
17:12
se6ast1an
here is the task, I updated the description recently: https://lab.apertus.org/T291
17:12
se6ast1an
feedback/ideas/help appreciated
17:13
se6ast1an
I continued the CAD design of more parts for the CP enclosure and accesories, 2 new screenshots added to https://cloud.apertus.org/index.php/apps/gallery/s/jycWfbwpWYAwfJ6 (see last 2 entries)
17:14
se6ast1an
thats it from my side
17:14
se6ast1an
quick wrap up? or anyone else with topics?
17:15
Bertl
guess that's it ... keep calm, keep healthy, everyone!
17:18
se6ast1an
and stay at home, where you can much better contribute to the AXIOM project :)

Hello mentors! I am Swaraj Hota, an undergrad at IIIT Bhubaneswar, India. I am interested to work on the project T730 for GSoC 2020. I completed GSoC 2019 at FFmpeg for "HEIF Support", and hence I have good knowledge of C. I have some idea about writing device drivers in linux kernel, although I am learning now. My github username is @Swaraj1998. This year I have been working at another org but due to some issues I'm not
20:44
bluez_[m]
sure I would continue there. My friend metal_dent mentioned me about apertus and I found this really cool project which I did not know about. I know I am late to the party, but I will try my best to make use of the days I have. Looking forward to your support! 🙂

20:48
bluez_[m]
What kind of checksum do I have to calculate?
20:49
BAndiT1983

20:49
bluez_[m]
I mean to go for the Task 1 mentioned on the challenge
