morning everyone!

troy_s: new raw images (from the 'perfect' sensor) can be found under http://vserver.13thfloor.at/Stuff/AXIOM/RAW/
09:02
Bertl
They are all starting with 'scene', those with _c in the name feature the IT8 chart in a non-reflective position within that scene
09:03
Bertl
lowlight means diffuse/ambient tungsten lighting, while halogen means two halogen spots, one from each side

Bertl: I want to summarize the raw16 file specifications on the wiki, its 16 bit monochrome starting from top/left, right? any header? are the sensor registers embedded at the end?
09:05
Bertl
no header, big endian, 16bit (12msb padded with 4lsb zeroes)
09:06
Bertl
starting at the top left, with 3072 rows of 4096 columns
09:06
Bertl
the data is in bayer pattern RG/GB and has the register dump appended
09:08
S3bastian
thanks
09:10
S3bastian
and the appended registers are 128x32bit (though their are 16bit) right?
09:10
Bertl
128 x 16bit, big endian as well
09:11
S3bastian
ok
09:13
Bertl
the 32bit memory layout is not really relevant, if I had known that it would confuse the hell out of so many people, I wouldn't have picked it
09:13
Bertl
for all practical purposes it just means that you multiple the register index by 4 instead of 2 when reading or writing the registers directly to the SPI memory locations

byte oder Mac vs IBM PC is heavy and mostly wrong
09:15
Bertl
btw, you probably want to select Mac there, despite the fact that all new Macs use little endian
09:16
Bertl
intel is little endian, power PC was traditionally big endian, and arm is both
09:19
S3bastian
if I select mac the image is only noise
09:19
S3bastian
if I select IBM I see the color chart
09:20
Bertl
okay, then it is just completely wrong I guess :)
09:21
Bertl
(or we are not writing big endian, let me check that)
09:23
Bertl
no, we are big endian :) very strange, PCs never used big endian
09:48
Bertl
but probably as photoshop was Mac first, IBM PC just means 'swap'
