hi g3gg0-mobile
17:11

supragyaraj: is it working now?
17:11
BAndiT1983
17:11
supragyaraj
BAndiT1983: seems like it's working for me... can g3gg0-mobile try once?

BAndiT1983
it's cumbersome to have moderation for every bit on channel, i hate spammers a lot
17:14
supragyaraj
I guess manual work in such systems (which are supposed to be automated) is always a pain
17:15
BAndiT1983
time consuming
17:16
BAndiT1983
have started to implement frame server, using your code and have some ideas how to accomplish it
17:17
supragyaraj
N1ce
17:17
BAndiT1983
funny stuff, using vs2017 and linux development module, which connects to slim ubuntu server VM, there it builds it and executes for debug
17:17
supragyaraj
my code?
17:17
BAndiT1983
i think that many calculations can be reduced, as we know values beforehand
17:18
BAndiT1983
your prototype helped me to understand where to start with fuse, as docs are only partially helpful there
17:18
supragyaraj
one in AVI-FUSE couple should not run
17:18
supragyaraj
those are incomplete
17:18
BAndiT1983
have commented on it
17:18
BAndiT1983
it was my starting point first, then i have started to extract parts of avicontainer and reworking it
17:18
supragyaraj
seen the issue
17:19
supragyaraj
but i have lost touch with my own code :)
17:19
BAndiT1983
no problem, know this state all to well
17:19
BAndiT1983
will share my code as soon as mplayer can at least open the file
17:19
supragyaraj
sure...
17:19
supragyaraj
will wait for it
17:20
supragyaraj
but i have to stop distro hopping finally
17:20
supragyaraj
i don't like my current linux :(
17:20
supragyaraj
would wait till gsoc ends
17:20
BAndiT1983
your question about offsets is simple to answer, we know number and size of frames beforehand, as we serve finite number of frames, so we should be able to pre-calculate a lot of offsets an use them, e.g. when user jumps back to some earlier frames
17:20
supragyaraj
yes we can
17:21
supragyaraj
its just not implemented as of yet that's all
17:21
BAndiT1983
my advice is still the same: use VMs
17:21
supragyaraj
VMs are.... slow
17:21
BAndiT1983
not really, using them all the time, but maybe it depends on the CPU
17:21
supragyaraj
Plus, I have windows just because of Rainbow six siege... and video editing software... Adobe CC
17:21
BAndiT1983
by the way, also testing code from Claudio in a VM, and he uses OGL and OCL
17:21
supragyaraj
else it could be linux only
17:21
BAndiT1983
steamos ;)
17:22
danieel
i dont hot, i gentoo 12 years :) one system to rule them all, lol :P
17:22
supragyaraj
ah yes... what is steamos all about?
17:22
danieel
*hop
17:22
BAndiT1983
aaaaahhhhh, gentoo user
17:22
g3gg0-mobile
Ah hi
17:22
supragyaraj
Hi g3gg0-mobile
17:22
BAndiT1983
gentoo is like factorio :D you have to build everything from ground up
17:22
g3gg0-mobile
Didnt reize that it worked now
17:22
BAndiT1983
or for younger generation: minecraft
17:23
supragyaraj
how is it different from arch for example then
17:23
supragyaraj
in arch you build everything from ground up
17:23
g3gg0

17:23
g3gg0-mobile
*realize
17:23
supragyaraj
However, there was one of the distros... which did not have dependency resolution
17:23
supragyaraj
was it gentoo?
17:23
danieel
in gentoo you got great manuals, that teaches you a lot of stuff
17:24
danieel
(gentoo wiki, and the install guide)
17:24
supragyaraj
sounds like "linux from scratch" but production
17:24
supragyaraj
Hey BAndiT1983, can you give voice to g3gg0?
17:25
BAndiT1983
17:25
g3gg0
cool
17:25
g3gg0
as my daughter is crying in my arms its hard to focus
17:26
supragyaraj
:)
17:26
BAndiT1983
supragyaraj: you have to weigh between a lot of customization and productivity, gentoo requires some time investment

17:34
g3gg0
does chat work?
17:35
danieel
like without voice?
17:35
g3gg0
i mean /msg
17:35
supragyaraj
haven't recieved anything after [i would not say it is low speed :D]
17:35
g3gg0
ok :)
17:35
supragyaraj
could we talk here? it's logged so...
17:35
g3gg0
sure
17:36
supragyaraj
i go over irc chats frequently
17:38
g3gg0
http://supragyaraj.com/dev/gsoc-2018/ Since MLV proposes a form of “sett mode†model for metadata Q: what is "sett mode" ? Since MLV consists of simple blocks – metadata blocks and frame blocks Q: what are "frame blocks"? I: RAWI doesnt have to be the second block - however it must be before the first VIDF A low speed channel (probably a Gbe) I: i would not say it is low speed :D
17:38
g3gg0
http://supragyaraj.com/dev/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/s13PJ0SfNXOUK3mgrooLatw.png
17:39
g3gg0
i'd clean up the lines (straighten them)
17:40
g3gg0
-> An another way to reduce the overhead of joining can be by using the multi file mlv.
17:40
g3gg0
i like this ide very much
17:40
g3gg0
*idea
17:40
BAndiT1983
i would make high-speed line thick and low-speed bold
17:40
g3gg0
right
17:41
supragyaraj
Hmm, okay
17:41
supragyaraj
I would look into proofreading and correcting the diagrams once more
17:42
supragyaraj
I am not able to comprehend: Is this a suggestion, or something I wrote that draws the conclusion: "RAWI doesnt have to be the second block - however it must be before the first VIDF"
17:43
g3gg0
PLR - i would describe that you implemented the CDNG tag for linearization and had success with some fake values
17:43
supragyaraj
okay... would include burnt out magenta pic there too. :)
17:43
g3gg0
yeah
17:44
g3gg0
its some work you've done, so mention it
17:45
supragyaraj
All else see to be in place and ready for final evals then?
17:45
supragyaraj
*seem
17:46
g3gg0
"An analysis of different file formats"
17:46
supragyaraj
other than corrections to be done ofv
17:46
supragyaraj
ofc
17:46
supragyaraj
okay... should I elaborate on those more?
17:46
g3gg0
where can i see the examined formats and their dis/advantages?
17:47
g3gg0
the google spreadsheet content would look good there
17:47
supragyaraj
I have been filling up the lab task for that
17:47
supragyaraj
Yes, that spreadsheet
17:48
supragyaraj
You suggest I add a table? or a link?
17:48
g3gg0
personally i prefer to have everything together as a single document (where it makes sense)
17:48
supragyaraj
okay
17:49
g3gg0
so it would be good to extract the important bits from that spreadsheet and link to it
17:49
supragyaraj
would do
17:49
g3gg0
one side note though - MLV supports compression
17:49
supragyaraj
i know that :0
17:49
supragyaraj
:)
17:49
supragyaraj
didn't implement it though
17:50
g3gg0
LJ92 - could be added to the spreadsheet
17:50
supragyaraj
JPEG98 or something right?
17:50
supragyaraj
oh...
17:50
supragyaraj
okay
17:50
g3gg0
lossless jpeg 92
17:50
supragyaraj
would have to read it up
17:50
supragyaraj
will do
17:50
g3gg0
iirc compressed size was 55-60%
17:50
johtso
joined the channel
17:50
supragyaraj
btw... is it always 14bits at the end
17:50
supragyaraj
??
17:51
g3gg0
MLV?
17:51
supragyaraj
yes
17:51
g3gg0
no, its 8-16 bits
17:51
johtso
left the channel
17:51
supragyaraj
CDNG output
17:51
danieel
why is CNDG uncompressed? the compression is "multiple"
17:51
danieel
either lossy or lossless
17:52
g3gg0-mobile
Yep
17:52
supragyaraj
iirc, when i did mlv_dump, it rescaled 12bpp to 14bpp
17:52
supragyaraj
so is 14bpp staple?
17:52
g3gg0-mobile
Also supports lj92
17:53
g3gg0-mobile
Iirc adobe dng didnt support lower depths or there was some trouble with it
17:53
danieel
adobe is crap :)
17:53
g3gg0-mobile
Yet they defined the standards :/
17:53
supragyaraj
i have seen internet raging over adobe standards... when they don't even have a camera
17:54
supragyaraj
idk how that even works
17:54
g3gg0-mobile
Hehe
17:54
danieel
cdng wasnt put into public domain? or there was a group for that
17:54
danieel
apertus was member or whaaat?
17:55
supragyaraj
i don't think apertus would have been a part of any such group... :|
17:55
danieel
the lossless compression is adobe supported (~ 1:1.2 ratio) anyway, BM only made the hack with the specs when you close both your eyes and say fine, we can tell it that way as well :))
17:56
supragyaraj
there was a video on camera underdogs... where BM had it's own camera... along with se6astian on the same couch
17:57
supragyaraj
don't remember the nae though
17:57
supragyaraj
*name
17:57
g3gg0
overall i like the document and (aside of my feedback) it reflects the work youve done
17:58
g3gg0
but i have no clue if that is "good enough" for GSoC as it is my first time doing that :)
17:58
g3gg0
ah had one more note: "The low speed port transports the following important metadata blocks"
17:59
supragyaraj
It should be... you could look up a few other final drafts too.
17:59
g3gg0
maybe you should describe these blocks and "map" it to metadata that axiom produces
18:00
supragyaraj
this is one of the final submissions: https://github.com/CGAL/cgal/issues/2367

18:01
supragyaraj
:)
18:02
supragyaraj

18:02
g3gg0
