hi Sourabh
08:29
BAndiT1983
which area are you interested in?
08:37
Sourabh
what are the choices
08:46
BAndiT1983
if it's about gsoc, then maybe this can help -> https://lab.apertus.org/project/view/20/

hi
09:09
se6ast1an
another day in paradise!
09:10
se6ast1an
but first I need to go have someone push the weekly q-tip down my nose!
09:11
BAndiT1983
prerequisite for work?
09:13
BAndiT1983
by the way, we should gather all the subtasks for the 3d viewer in lab, maybe in a separate column, following are necessary for the base: part list based on a JSON file, UI overlay and info card (data from JSON file), navigation cube etc.
09:15
BAndiT1983
haven't pushed vue.js-based version yet, will try to update it to the state of the playground plus some adjustments and afterwards commit it
09:25
se6ast1an
"prerequisite for work", not this time but often before it was yes
09:26
se6ast1an
sounds good, should we create a new web content & documentation coloumn?
09:28
BAndiT1983
yes
09:29
BAndiT1983
was just asking, as our home office is ongoing, not even clear about tests, vaccination, office rotation or whatever will be planned by the company

se6ast1an: I'm working on my proposal for T1126 (Firmware improvement) at the moment
12:17
markusengsner
And I was wondering about the goals that are already being worked on
12:18
markusengsner
for instance Text input GUI and transition animations
12:18
se6ast1an
great
12:18
markusengsner
are these still part of the GSoC project?
12:18
se6ast1an
yes, until they are merged upstream they should still be part of it
12:18
markusengsner
alright thank you
12:19
se6ast1an
even if they are merged there might be room for improvement (optimization, code clean up, adding units tests, etc.)

The only high speed interface on the Lattice is the DDR block and the Zynq block is having SERDES. Is the idea to transfer data from the Lattice using DDR to the Zynqs SERDES? Apologies if too vague. This is in reference to the Bidirectional idea

regarding mailing list, best contact se6ast1an with a copy of the error message you get

se6ast1an: I'm currently going through and trying to understand the different tasks that are part of the GSoC remote firmware project
19:37
markusengsner
and I was wondering what 'page setup' entails?
19:38
markusengsner
is it to make it easier to create new pages in the GUI?
19:38
markusengsner
or something else?

markusengsner: yep, exactly, setting up screens without much overhead and boilerplate code
19:55
markusengsner
BAndiT1983: thank you!
19:55
BAndiT1983
no problem
20:07
markusengsner
I was also wondering, what data is currently being transferred between the camera and the remote?
20:07
markusengsner
i was thinking about the histograms
20:07
markusengsner
doesn't that require an image to be transmitted from the camera?
20:08
BAndiT1983
nope, only data array
20:08
BAndiT1983
we have a protocol defined, check the readme of firmware sub-folder
20:09
BAndiT1983
the calculations will be done on the camera, as the data is there, so no need to transfer 4096x3072 image, not even mentioning the bit depth of 8-12 bits per channel, the remote would die instantly ;)
20:09
markusengsner
haha fair point
20:10
markusengsner
so the camera is going to transfer data that is ready to use for something like a histogram, is that correct?
20:11
markusengsner
and the remote 'just' has to visualise it
20:13
pani

20:14
pani
joined the channel
20:15
BAndiT1983
yes, but the remote will ask for data mostly, in first place
20:18
BAndiT1983
or maybe it will ask the camera to switch to data push, e.g. when entering a screen with histogram, if we want to update frequently (performance needs to be tests)
20:18
BAndiT1983
*tested

markusengsner
hmm ok
20:21
markusengsner
particulars aside, the graph drawing sub-task depends entirely on the histogram processing etc being developed for the axiom beta?
20:23
BAndiT1983
it was a task for both sides, as the daemon on the camera side is not prepared for that task also, so whoever would develop it, should also think about possible implementations, which can be done by someone else
20:27
markusengsner
okay I understand

quick question about https://lab.apertus.org/T1228 task 2: is the source image linear and the destination gamma-corrected? or vice versa? what should the user specifying e.g. a gamma of 2.2 result in?
23:20
tpw_rules
also any preference on image reading/writing libraries? are there any already used by the tests?
