can someone confirm that jumping to wiki sub-sections causes several lines to be obscured: https://wiki.apertus.org/index.php/AXIOM_Beta/AXIOM_Beta_Hardware#Lens_Mounts

RexOrCine[m]
Negative. Tried it all sorts of ways on two browsers and it seems fine (mobile)
17:39
Bertl_oO
yup, can confirm it ... most likely the static header is not accounted for
17:40
RexOrCine[m]
Nice section.
17:40
intracube
RexOrCine[m]: hm, interesting
17:40
intracube
confirmed. seems ok on android
17:40
Bertl_oO
firefox here
17:40
intracube
but not desktop
17:40
intracube
(firefox and chrome)
17:42
Bertl_oO
but it is a moot point as long as the page is not HTML
17:42
RexOrCine[m]
It seems temperamental that boot strap.

https://validator.w3.org/check?uri=https%3A%2F%2Fwiki.apertus.org%2Findex.php%2FAXIOM_Beta%2FAXIOM_Beta_Hardware&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
17:43
Bertl_oO
so first step is to make it proper HTML/XML/CSS whatever
17:43
Bertl_oO
then it makes sense to see where it fails

it is simply going through the errors/warnings one by one and fixing them
18:02
Bertl_oO
not very different to programming
18:03
Bertl_oO
except that for a program, you do not expect it to work as long as it contains syntactic and semantic errors :)

Bertl_oO: true of course, but historically there has been a lot more variation in standards for webdev compared to traditional programming
19:18
intracube
browsers accommodating bad web design and other browsers nonstandard behaviour
19:19
intracube
avoids web stuff wherever possible :)
19:20
BAndiT1983
web development is mostly about implementing workarounds for browsers
19:22
BAndiT1983
bootstrap navbar offset is nothing new -> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20226001/bootstrap-anchor-offset-issue
19:42
intracube
from that page "It's jumping to right position, the top fixed menu is covering the title so you can't see it. You must put your anchors some place above the title so that menu won't be covering them"
19:42
intracube
^ that's a back-to-front-way of fixing it :)
19:43
BAndiT1983
most suggestions are using anchor offset
19:43
intracube
shouldn't have to compensate by setting the anchor points incorrectly
19:44
BAndiT1983
https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/issues/1768
19:44
BAndiT1983
all the fixes are awkward, but it's webdev
19:46
BAndiT1983
maybe the theme has to be adjusted, so the content area starts right below the navbar, this would bypass the problem
19:47
intracube
BAndiT1983: yep, that seems a better solution
19:48
intracube
otherwise anchor points might end up in a bad place for other themes used in the future
19:48
intracube
I've been out of the loop too long. not sure what method would work
19:49
intracube
maybe a separate iframe below the header with scrollbar disabled
19:50
intracube
but iirc, they didn't always work well when the user bookmarks the page
19:50
BAndiT1983
position of the content container has to be adjusted, i know it a bit as i played around with bootstrap for new theme
19:53
BAndiT1983
yep, tried it, margin-top in CSS can be used to offset it from the top
19:59
BAndiT1983
padding-top is better for that, but has to be tested, task for se6astian or Rex
20:04
BAndiT1983
just a reference for that -> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10336194/twitter-bootstrap-top-nav-bar-blocking-top-content-of-the-page

Aye we did talk about removing the aOSC and AXIOM logos... or to be accurate se6astian put the notion of their removal on the table... I was pretty keen to keep them though. But if they're causing problems then rectifying that is the main thing.
22:51
RexOrCine[m]
They serve a good purpose but perhaps we can compensate by designing standards for the triptic. Having the Alpha photographed against a white background has been a pet want for a while now.
