17:00
simonrepp
Alright, welcome everyone!!
17:01
simonrepp
We'll start in 5 minutes, until I'd like everyone who is planning to report on his latest progress to digitally raise his hand, so I can prepare a speaker's list for today's meeting :)
17:01
simonrepp
until then ... whoops sorry!
17:02
Bertl
not much to report but I can give a short update
17:02
se6astian
me too
17:02
BAndiT1983
i'm also in
17:02
davidak
also short update
17:02
simonrepp
three volunteers added to the list! keep it coming :)
17:02
simonrepp
four!
17:02
simonrepp
i'll add myself - five
17:03
simonrepp
if you have any links that further document what you will report on, you can already prepare those :)
17:04
simonrepp
(which will help to keep your reports short ;) with the possibilty to get more details later/elsewhere, plus i can add those to the meeting minutes!)
17:04
toxitobi
you could add me too let's see what happens
17:05
simonrepp
great - added :)
17:05
simonrepp
Ok then let's start
17:05
simonrepp
First the one and only must have meta topic: Next meeting date :)
17:06
simonrepp
I propose 19h CET in 2 weeks
17:06
simonrepp
16th Jan 2017
17:06
simonrepp
any contraindications to that?
17:06
Bertl
fine here
17:06
se6astian
fine for me
17:07
simonrepp
ok great, then this is settled!
17:08
simonrepp
Then I'd like to hear your latest progress since the last meeting, keep it short and fresh :) and we'll start with: Bertl!
17:09
Bertl
well, we had a nice x-mas time with Tim "mithro" Ansell
17:09
Bertl
and we had a chat about improving cooperation between him and us
17:10
Bertl
there is some overlap between timvideos and apertus/AXIOM because we both do HDMI, display port, and video in general
17:10
se6astian
also one of the main developers for timvideos Florence in France already has an AXIOM Beta dev kit
17:10
Bertl
he brought a preliminary version of a plugin adapter which allows to use AXIOM plugins on the opsis
17:11
Bertl
and we got "our" opsis board working with his help
17:11
simonrepp
timvideos is tim's company i assume? :)
17:12
Bertl
no, he works at google, and does video stuff as his hobby
17:12
Bertl
https://code.timvideos.us/home/
17:13
simonrepp
(thanks! further reading bonus points unlocked :))
17:13
Bertl
on the PCB front, I'm still working on some new shields (ESP32, HDMI)
17:13
Bertl
and on updating the SFE as well as the PMDO debug module
17:14
Bertl
hardware testing and rework was on hold as I've been rearranging my workplace over the holidays
17:14
Bertl
(to make more room for AXIOM related stuff :)
17:15
Bertl
the software side did not get any updates, because I currently lack a working Beta
17:15
Bertl
that's basically it from my side for today
17:16
simonrepp
perfect, thanks! passing the mic on to se6astian!
17:16
se6astian
I shifted most of my time/attention to pick and place machines recently
17:17
se6astian
you might have seen the videos of the liteplacer I sent to the team@ mailing list
17:17
simonrepp
watched it earlier .. sweeet \o/
17:17
se6astian
yesterday I switched to openpnp from liteplacers own software
17:17
se6astian
and its very promising already
17:18
se6astian
now I ll see how I can increase accuracy: slack compensation with small code additions
17:18
se6astian
I already installed eclipse and have the github source cloned
17:18
se6astian
we also produced a couple of PCBs in the meantime manually
17:19
se6astian
but hopefully more automatically in the near future
17:19
se6astian
on the other PnP machine fronts
17:19
se6astian
the visionplacer 3000D has no ship date yet so we will have to wait and see
17:19
simonrepp
amazing product name haha :D
17:20
se6astian
and we will continue our efforts to run the larger pnp machine at amescon with openpnp as well
17:20
se6astian
a guy responsible for the linux machine kit http://www.machinekit.io/ is looking into writing an openpnp motor driver for it
17:20
se6astian
visionplacer 3000D: https://www.smallsmt.biz/visionplacer-vp-3000d/
17:21
se6astian
on the website redesign front not much happened
17:21
se6astian
we will have a meeting on irc tomorrow at 19:00 CET
17:22
se6astian
hopefully before then I will know more about theme designing process
17:22
se6astian
our liteplacer additions and documentation (also openpnp related) is here: https://wiki.apertus.org/index.php/Liteplacer_PnP_Machine_Notes
17:23
se6astian
thats it from me I think
17:24
simonrepp
great, next up is bandit - the stage's all yours!
17:25
BAndiT1983
you can call Andrej, just using nick so people know who this is, e.g. in the lab
17:25
BAndiT1983
i will report on OpenCine progress
17:25
simonrepp
ah cool ,good that you bring it up, really makes sense to include non-nick identifiers in the meeting minutes, i just don't know all the names yet :) so thanks!
17:25
BAndiT1983
currently i'm approaching the checksum validation milestone, also awaiting notification from Nikos, as he was working on preview of MOV files with the help of QtAV/FFMPEG
17:26
BAndiT1983
also a cleanup is on the list and also progress documentation, at the moment you can look it up in the task list in Lab, but wiki will also be updated soon
17:26
BAndiT1983
that's from me for now
17:28

hi guys
17:28
simonrepp
hey michael o/
17:29
mgielda
sorry for being late, just popping in for a minute from a newyear holiday ;)
17:29
davidak
i was at 33c3 but haven't done much apertus related. i distributed some of the nice axiom beta flayers i had over from last year. we should plan something for the next congress: like having an assembly where we demo a beta and answer all the questions. i have attended the last 5 congresses so i know how things work there. i can help to plan but i don't want to be there all the time. I'm mostly volunteer as a video mixer or cameram
17:30
Bertl
IRC line limit ... last word "cameram"
17:30
davidak
I'm mostly volunteer as a video mixer or cameraman for the streams :)
17:30
simonrepp
(adding to that: there's a small possibility 34c3 might happen in vienna. but dortmund currently is the most likely candidate i heard yesterday :))
17:31
Bertl
is there a place where we can vote for Vienna? :)
17:31
BAndiT1983
can i vote for Dortmund? ;)
17:31
davidak
i think they are still searching a good locatin
17:31
toxitobi
me too for dortmund
17:31
simonrepp
i think voting power comes with preliminary volunteer duty :D
17:32
mgielda
teehee
17:32
simonrepp
contact your local CCC outpost ;)
17:32
mgielda
on a related note, who's going to fosdem?
17:33
Bertl
has no plans at the moment ...
17:33
simonrepp
(david: more to report or shall we move on? :))
17:34
davidak
that was all
17:34
simonrepp
cool, then i'll jump in next
17:35
mithro
joined the channel
17:35
simonrepp
so the elmyra interview team talk went out since last meeting (thanks max, sebastian, andi, etc.!)
17:35
se6astian
hi Tim!
17:35
simonrepp
marcin from opensourceecology contacted me regarding elmyra but haven't gotten around writing back yet because quiet time of the year and such ;) but sounds promising
17:36
se6astian
343views on TT12.1 already
17:36
se6astian
less than normal but with the holidays and everything its quite OK I guess
17:36
simonrepp
asides from that I did some more work trying to get the eagle beta PCB designs as 3d models into FreeCAD
17:36
davidak
simonrepp: OSE is a great project!
17:37
simonrepp
all the standard resistors, capacitors, etc. were in the standard parts library, so these are there already, now comes the part where the parts need to be found manually
17:38
simonrepp
i'll write a task in the lab (or maybe add to the quite similar one that already exists) and document further work and open tasks there
17:38
simonrepp
that's it from my side :)
17:38
simonrepp
toxitobi, you can continue! :)
17:39
toxitobi
thanks
17:39
toxitobi
Last time wasn't here, got the info too late so here i try to give a round up about enclosure design.
17:40
toxitobi
There are two main points that are currently under work first one is the placement of buttons and wheels to control the camera
17:41
toxitobi
the idea is to make those sit beneath a metalplate that is easy to exchange if you want additional functions
17:41
toxitobi
this plate should also fit into a grip so that you are able to get controls off the camera to a handle when your mounting the camera on rods
17:41
BAndiT1983_
joined the channel
17:41
toxitobi
after holidays I'll start on this topic collecting the buttons and controlwheels CAD-data and then see how it fits into the concept and to make it work
17:42
toxitobi
another point is cost controlling of the enclosure and to find out how much manufacturing costs
17:42
toxitobi
I'll try https://www.plethora.com/ and also do it manually via excel and see how much time and material is necessary
17:43
BAndiT1983

17:43
toxitobi
that's it from my side
17:43
simonrepp
cool thanks!
17:44
simonrepp
that ends the regular speaker's list, anyone want to jump in spontaneously (eg. latecomers?) :)
17:44
simonrepp
otherwise i'll wrap up the meeting in 1 min
17:45
alexML_
I'm also around, though not much to report that matches the rules (i.e. actively working on)
17:45
se6astian
one more thing to report
17:45
se6astian
the AXIOM Remote Plus had a first dev release
17:45
se6astian
https://wiki.apertus.org/index.php/AXIOM_Remote_Plus
17:45
simonrepp
(toxitobi: under which name should i add you to the report?)
17:45
se6astian
created by Phil Kerr in UK
17:46
toxitobi
Tobias is perfect if there are no others^^
17:46
simonrepp

17:46
se6astian
Then there is this list

17:46
se6astian
AXIOM Community Points of Contact
17:46
se6astian
an invitation to expand :)
17:47
se6astian
on the simple enclosure front
17:47
se6astian
collaborating with alexis_chooks
17:47
simonrepp
quick differentitation between APOC / ecosystem?
17:48
se6astian
APOC is like a local ambassidor, its part of the ecosystem
17:48
simonrepp
ah ok!
17:49
se6astian
the simple enclosure HDMI holder part is pretty much complete
17:49
se6astian
which reminds me: Bertl please set asside those M1.2 (IIRC) srews for me to try
17:49
Bertl
will do
17:49
se6astian
The main body of the simple enclosure is still undergoing review by alexis_chooks
17:50
se6astian
if anybody wants to help on this front you are welcome
17:50
se6astian
I am waiting on the review to be completed before 3d printing more parts
17:50
se6astian
our own hackmd installation is pending
17:50
se6astian
notes.apertus.org it will be
17:51
se6astian
was promised to be completed this evening
17:51
davidak
nice
17:51
toxitobi
Maybe I could help Let's talk outside of this meeting
17:51
BAndiT1983_
is it a replacement for wiki?
17:51
se6astian
toxitobi: great!
17:51
se6astian
more a replacement for google docs
17:52
BAndiT1983_
can we have markdown for the wiki? ;) not a great fan of its syntax
17:52
davidak
se6astian: was the Team Talk sent to indiegogo backers?
17:52
se6astian
well mediawiki has its own kind of markdown syntax
17:52
davidak
i think i don't got a mail there
17:53
simonrepp
can i wrap up the meeting before we lose ourselves in too many topics ? :)
17:53
se6astian
davidak: yes: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/axiom-beta-the-first-open-digital-cinema-camera#/updates
17:53
simonrepp
(se6astian - anything else to add?)
17:54
se6astian
I am done, thanks
17:54
simonrepp
excellent!
17:55
simonrepp
then a big thanks to you all for attending and making this a shorter and still richer meeting than last time!
17:55
simonrepp
next meeting is in two weeks
17:55
se6astian

17:55

17:55

RexOrCine: we have just finished the meeting
18:02
Bertl
no problem, only one hour :)
18:02
RexOrCine
Only thing I needed to say really was a hi-key image of the Beta stack with and without third party eqpt attached on a white background is sorely needed.
18:05
se6astian
we are on it :)
18:05
se6astian
well it all depends on max currently
18:05

(Re; Enclosure options)
18:34
davidak
RexOrCine: that's really beautiful
18:34
RexOrCine
It would be a lovely option. Good machines seemed to be bobbing around the 20,000 to 30,000 Euro mark.
18:35
RexOrCine
However the university might have one?
18:40
davidak
or some hackerspace or fab lab
18:41
davidak
for example https://fablab.berlin/de/3-machines
18:44
RexOrCine
Aye. I'd be surprised if the Uni hasn't got one.

[philgrandeC]
Thanks for the updates on the iirc meeting. Followed em both - and its pretty informative and interesting
19:14
se6astian
great to hear :)
19:14
[philgrandeC]
even if you are just a filmmaker who quitted programming int the time ruby came out
19:15
[philgrandeC]
i hardly regret it since you started the axiom project
19:16
[philgrandeC]
oh sorry - i really regret it ;P
19:16
se6astian
well maybe we can motivate you again to play around a little with the code?
19:16
[philgrandeC]
i would
19:16
[philgrandeC]
allready looked into
19:18
[philgrandeC]
but i allready spent all my time in movies
19:19
[philgrandeC]
but while you develop the tools it try to geather the crew to produce mainly based on free (as in Apertus n Beer ;) an/or osh,diy tech
19:21
[philgrandeC]
coming from both ends, the high budget buerocratic german ÖR Tv - and living in a region where beside that just absolut low budget approaches exist, there seems just this way ;)
19:22
[philgrandeC]
If we could expand days n time a bit like someone recently stated here, i'll spent those extra hours on code! ;P
19:24
[philgrandeC]
But back to the meeting: As en "Enduser" who just knows enough aboout software and electricity to "not be afraid" i've stuck emotional to the project like probably many other: pretty cool things you develop - but why dont you just finish the beta befor you start side projects
19:27
[philgrandeC]
today while reading up the meeting on iirc i realized for the first time, that there have to be designed much more "free" or fitting tools for your approach to mark the "o" for openess in regards to reproduction..
19:29
[philgrandeC]
well done folks! Thanks to the teamtalk crew and simon (for hosting and elmyra)!
19:30
[philgrandeC]
Sorry for typos n grammar - didnt write in english for a while
19:32
[philgrandeC]
Sebastian: i will - and i will have to i guess, as soon as i will have my beta copy. But for my copy you dont have to hurry anymore (if you did ;) - really get those projects done that makes the beta and its way different to anything else!!
