I think I will not make it in time for the meeting :(
15:57
anuejn
so I will report now
15:58
anuejn
this week vup and me had a meeting on the current schematics of the micro r2.1
15:58
anuejn
one conclusion was that we want to test mipi rx before we spend much time on these board
15:59
vup
(Bertl was also part of the meeting :)
16:00
aniketonroll[m]
left the channel
16:00
anuejn
so I began to write a mipi csi reciever (see https://github.com/apertus-open-source-cinema/nmigen-gateware/tree/master/src/lib/io/mipi)
16:00
anuejn
vup: oh whoops I wanted to write "had a meeting with Bertl" :see_no_evil:
16:01
anuejn
thanks to the great work of daveshaha (https://github.com/daveshah1/CSI2Rx) it was rather straight forward
16:02
anuejn
I also ordered magnet wire to patch one of the micros we have to do mipi instead of hispi
16:02
anuejn
this might enable us to test that without the need of new hardware
16:03
Bertl
off for now ... bbl
16:03
Bertl

16:03
anuejn
Also I worked on refactoring the AXI reader and writer cores to be easier to understand and more generically usefull as a preparation for doing ethernet streaming
16:03
anuejn
that is still in progress but overall I am quite happy with the direction it takes
16:03
eppisai

16:04
anuejn
also I looked a bit into raspberry pi camera modules and that it might be interesting to support these in some way with the micro r2.1
16:05
anuejn
especially since the Sony IMX477 image sensor provides a rather nice feature set and is available from different sellers on breakout boards that are compatible with the raspberry pi
16:06
anuejn
and there is documentation available
16:06
anuejn
maybe we can just add a fitting connector on the micro to optionally enable the use of these boards
16:07
anuejn
but we have to discuss that further
16:07
anuejn
thats it from me for this week :)
16:08
anuejn
maybe vup and Bertl want to report more at the meeting :)
16:08

Hello Bertl_oO, don't know if you remember but I did contact you before Christmas because I want to build a SATA module for the TE0714.
16:36
seb39
I did generate the BOM list from the latest .sch file you shared with me (https://pastebin.com/KYxY5nm2) but I am a little bit confused because it's the first time I do this… If you have a little bit of time to help me, here's some questions I have:
16:36
seb39
1- Does LSHM-150-XX.X-XX-DV-A-S can be any height (https://wiki.trenz-electronic.de/display/IN/Module+Connectors)?
16:36
seb39
2- Does DSC11XX-3.2X2.5 is a DSC1102? And if yes, I have a lot of results on digikey. Which one should I buy?
16:36
seb39
3- If I respect the value, does the capacitors and resistors can be choose randomly? There's also a lot of results on Digikey.
16:36
seb39
Thanks in advance for your help :)
16:58
se6ast1an
ah hi seb39!

metal_dent[m]: would you like to start the reporting as usual?
17:05
metal_dent[m]
sure, but i don't have much to report today i'm afraid ':D
17:06
metal_dent[m]
last week i spent most of my time reading the articles and blog BAndiT1983 sent me to properly understand the USB and exceptions etc.
17:06
metal_dent[m]
we are still trying to debug and further narrow down the USB problem
17:07
metal_dent[m]
and we're hoping to solve it soon so that further development can start
17:07
metal_dent[m]
that's it from me
17:08
BAndiT1983
se6ast1an: are you still there?
17:08
se6ast1an
I am :D
17:09
se6ast1an
bluez: you wanna go next?
17:09
bluez
yep!
17:10
bluez
so i was finally able to reasonably finish my script, can readback/write bitstream through the devcfg (PCAP) interface
17:10
bluez
both full and partial
17:10
bluez
code here: https://github.com/Swaraj1998/xilinx-devcfg
17:11
bluez
the read error i had before turned out to be a tiny little mistake on my side... which took a big chunk of my time ':D
17:12
bluez
next, i'll try to write a bitstream with an LUT, which i will try to selectively modify, through partial reconfig
17:12
bluez
and i am also getting my parcel within two days... so i can set that up this week!
17:13
bluez
thats it from me :)
17:13
se6ast1an
excellent, many thanks
17:13
se6ast1an
any comment/questions from Bertl regarding bitstream reading/writing?
17:14
Bertl
everything is going as expected
17:14
se6ast1an
good :)
17:14
se6ast1an
then eppisai, you are next
17:14
eppisai
hi,
17:15
eppisai
Last week i read more about pic32, and correct few things about correct c++ coding style when it comes to pic32
17:15
eppisai
i am trying transition task
17:16
eppisai
was stuck in that, but after proper guidance i have done bit more in right direction
17:16
se6ast1an
https://lab.apertus.org/T1173
17:17
eppisai
i have added transition framebuffer to painter, and wrote the transition offset algo in visualizer rightnow...
17:17
BAndiT1983
just a moment, why visualiser?
17:18
eppisai
well painter is giving me two framebuffers rightnow.. i calculate offset and copy content to new framebuffer, then display it on screen with opengl
17:19
eppisai
so, no two framebuffer at a time, only one framebuffer will be displayed
17:19
BAndiT1983
okay, but copying is costly on the MCU, so you should also implement a proper algorithm to copy parts of framebuffer A and B to the display
17:20
eppisai
yea, i understand that now.. i just wanted to get that gist if this algo is working
17:20
eppisai
so just temprary thing
17:21
BAndiT1983
ok
17:21
eppisai
thats it from my side :)
17:21
se6ast1an
sounds good
17:21
se6ast1an
you are aware we expect a video that blows us away with its sountrack right?
17:21
se6ast1an
*soundtrack
17:22
BAndiT1983
darude- sandstorm?
17:22
eppisai
: D oh really, i thought that might be unprofessional.. well wait for next time then!! : D thanks :)
17:23
se6ast1an
cant wait :)
17:24
se6ast1an
ok BAndiT1983, your turn!
17:24
BAndiT1983
alright
17:25
BAndiT1983
last week was mostly busy with guiding eppisai and metal_dent[m], but also debugging the problems on the remote, looks like we have some memory corruption, investigation still ongoing, but it looks like there happens some copying of values in memory
17:26
BAndiT1983
additionally started to debug USB problems and for that the code was boiled down to the minimum
17:26
BAndiT1983
as it was reported last week by se6ast1an, the PCBs have arrived and currently we prepare the data for production, e.g. "pick and place" (PNP) coordinates for elements, which will be used for the auotmatic soldering of components
17:27
BAndiT1983
script is adjusted, but now it needs some additional data, before we can continue with cross-checks by the manufacturer
17:27
BAndiT1983
that would be it for now
17:28
se6ast1an
great, thanks for the update
17:28
se6ast1an
anuejn already reported here before meeting so if you want to read up on that here is the link:

17:29
se6ast1an
quick updates from me
17:29
se6ast1an
most components ordered for the production run have arrived in a pile in front of osqar right now I assume
17:29
se6ast1an
there are 2 critical components missing and I am in the middle of writing emails to get an estimate for an ETA
17:30
se6ast1an
today I talked to the production guys again at tele about the stencil and learned that we need to engrave fiducials
17:30
se6ast1an
which I will add to the design this evening if everything goes well
17:30
se6ast1an
Bertl promised me to review the stencil until today so we should be ready to order it tomorrow
17:30
osqar
Were they send already or did you only receive an order confirmation?
17:31
se6ast1an
samtec is expected to take around 2 weeks, no shipment information yet
17:31
se6ast1an
farnell have listed the line status as "contact us" or so
17:31
se6ast1an
and rs I am reading right now
17:32
se6ast1an
on another front with packaging material
17:32
Bertl
se6ast1an: yes, the stencil will be reviewed after the meeting
17:32
se6ast1an
as we discovered that a full volume ESD foam packaging will be too expensive
17:32
se6ast1an
I created a concept of how we could create constructive foam elements only around certain box compartments
17:32
se6ast1an
https://paste.pics/1caacff851e9be89584a8e3c46eeeb88
17:33
se6ast1an
and drastically reduce the material amount required
17:33
se6ast1an
we could hot wire cut these sheets, or cnc mill
17:34
se6ast1an
will require a real world test at some point
17:34
se6ast1an
other news:
17:34
se6ast1an
gsoc 2021 org applications opened last friday
17:35
se6ast1an
we basically have everything together but I am awaiting reviews and green light from the upcoming mentors
17:35
se6ast1an
which are: Bertl, BAndiT1983, me and vup
17:35
Bertl
ah, you are going to mentor this year as well?
17:35
se6ast1an
probably, yes :)
17:36
se6ast1an
I ordered a stencil for the single hdmi plugin module from jlcpcb
17:36
se6ast1an
the plan is to build those on the diy pick and place machine at the factory hub
17:36
se6ast1an
as plugin modules are not part of the mixed panel and tele production run
17:37
se6ast1an
just got some more components from Bertl which I will also prepare for tele
17:37
se6ast1an
and 3d print custom trays this week for said components (chips in particular)
17:37
se6ast1an
with the esd safe filament I just got from Bertl
17:38
se6ast1an
thats it from me!
17:38
se6ast1an
osqar: do you have anything else to report/share?
17:38
osqar
Not really. I guess it makes no sense to send over the components I already received?
17:39
osqar
And I received the docs from our bookkeeping to send over to Tele.
17:40
se6ast1an
great
17:40
osqar
So we can proceed with the contract.
17:40
se6ast1an
lets wait for an answer on the ETA for the remaining parts before we decide if you should forward what you got
17:41
se6ast1an
production contract and balance sheets are 2 independent projects but good that you got them
17:42
se6ast1an
right then Bertl, your turn!
17:42
Bertl
Not much to report from my side, I was mostly busy with Axiom unrelated work
17:43
Bertl
So besides helping here and there and gathering the parts you got today, nothing to report here
17:43
Bertl
Stencil review will happen, as mentioned, right after the meeting

Bertl
seb39: hey, just read your questions on the channel
20:24
Bertl
yes, the height of the connector doesn't matter much, there are no 'bulky' components below the module
20:26
Bertl
also the signal integrity is quite good on those connectors so you should not have a problem with higher stacking heights either ... in general the cheapest available one is a good choice :)
20:33
Bertl
the DSC in our case a DSC1123CI2-150.0000, but any mems oscillator with suitable frequency and jitter values should work here (as long as it comes in the correct package :)
20:34
Bertl
and yes, for capacitors and resistors the manufacturer is up to you, you need to match the package size (typically 0402 for resistors) and the resistance/capacitance values
20:35
Bertl
for capacitors make sure that the voltage rating is 'good enough' so you do not end up with dramatically derated parts (10-16V X5R or X7R ceramic multilayer should be fine)
20:36
Bertl
let me know if there are any further questions ...
